If only we could do what liverpool did and pay £70m for Andrew Robinson. But then again, we're just bound to go hoping to find talent in hopeless Championship players.

1. It's Andy Robertson
2. They paid about £7m for him
3. We very rarely buy Championship players now

Apart from that I totally agree with everything you posted.

We need a big squad renewal and it seems as though we're going to be dumpster diving. Gonna be left behind
Honestly guys, this happens every season and is really nothing new. The biggest "squad renewal" in recent years was when we sold Bale and bought Lamela, Soldado, Paulinho, Eriksen, Capoue, Chiriches and Chadli. And this year seems to be no different - we would have to sell players to give us the funds for new ones. Little point being surprised or ranting at the situation.

As if your post wasn't already ridiculous enough, Andy Robertson had just been relegated with Hull when Liverpool bought him so technically he was a "Championship player" anyway.

I think you missed my joke on multiple levels, but that's ok.

I was merely suggesting that value isn't always about the money you pay, it's the quality you acquire.

Again, I think you've missed my point, but that's ok. I feel our views on this may be in alignment. X

If not sarcasm one of the most misinformed posts in the site's history.

Looks like we have no money so we're going to be have to be very shrewd in this market to find value. Tons of other clubs will be trying to do the same thing, and there's no point clogging up the squad/wage bill with average, short term buys.

I think our best bet would be to flog a couple of fringe players like Foyth and KWP with an eye to spending that money on one "quality" signing in a key position. I think Foyth is immensely talented but he's still too unreliable to play regularly and I can't see him getting gametime under Jose. Better to cash in now while he has time left on his contract and is still a regular international.

For me DM is our absolute number 1 priority so we should spend that money there - maybe on someone like Hojbjerg if we think he's upto the job, as he also has strong leadership skills which is something we lack.

I think we're going to have to accept Toby, Sanchez, Dier and Tanganga as our CBs unless we can somehow find a top quality free transfer/loan. Not ideal but not the end of the world.

RB is the main position I'm worried about as it's an obvious weakness yet we don't have the cash to adequately replace Aurier and top fullbacks don't come cheap.

Thankfully there are at least some decent players to be found on free transfers, though it will be a competitive market.

At RB Meunier whilst not top class would surely do a reasonable job for us, we could also look to take a punt on Ngakia from West Ham on a free transfer, although I haven't seen much of him. I think this position ultimately depends on whether we qualify for European football though. If we're a EL or CL team come next season I think there will definitely be a need for two out and out full backs on each side. Maybe if we're out of it altogether we could get away with Tanganga and or Foyth as alternative options.

CB there are two French league players available. Malang Sarr as mentioned and also Kouassi from PSG who's a French U18 CB. Jose could also opt for experience with Thiago Silva available.

In the forward positions Jose could look at one of Willian, Pedro or Callejon all of which he's worked with before. There's also Ryan Fraser. If we can get some money for Lamela then this might be a way of replacing him whilst generating some cash. If it meant some cash to spend on a good DM then i'd be for any of those coming in for Lamela.

Ultimately I think our best bet will be to do some wheeling and dealing on a backup striker that we don't have to be overly fussy about. Maybe we can offer Parrott out on loan or look to include Sissoko, Lamela, KWP in swaps. I think we can just about get away in being clever in every position of need apart from DM where I think it's unavoidable that some cash will need spending.

Actually this just looks like easy links when Chelsea has money and other clubs aren't doing that much. He won't even join them(95% he will join Bayern, and same source saying about Chelsea said this week that Bayer rejected 80m offer from Real). Or like us last summer when in the same we were close to Bruno, Dybala, Lo Celso and Coutinho.
