If we got Aaron’s, Hojberg and Edouard I’d be very pleased with that. Certainly not out of our reach financially or in terms of attracting them. They aren’t big time Charlie’s but they are all very good and technically sound players. Edouard is as good as any striker we could realistically sign in my opinion, think he’s going to be a star

A successful window for me would be strengthening our defense.

A CB, DM, RB.

I've always thought our best performances have been when we've had presence and strength through the middle. We've lost that now Toby and Jan are getting older and Dembele has left.

This window will be all about prioritising and we can live with our attacking options for another season.

I'd also prefer premiership proven players too.

It’s all just opinion, everyone sees differently, but I respectfully disagree with you. Not all signings need to be out and out world beaters, we already have some of them, we just need to strike the balance of players who allow them the freedom to play. DM is the key one for me, one who can command the centre of the park through spacial awareness and has the athleticism to cover the ground. Someone who in a 433 can sit infront of the CB’s and give the protection for the fullbacks to provide width without us having to go so wildly lopsided, and also allow the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele to dominate in possession.
From a second CF, we don’t necessarily need a goal machine, we need someone hardworking and physically capable of occupying CB’s and holding onto the ball so the likes of Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Alli can play off into the spaces. That’s what we miss with Kane not playing, there’s no focal ‘out ball’, and we lose posession which just invites more pressure back onto us. If we have that alternative, we don’t have to run Kane into the ground.m, we can start bringing him off if we’re comfortable, keep him fresher.
Agree with this point wholeheartedly. We saw in the game at Stamford bridge how effective Giroud is at doing this, and offering an occasional goal threat. Signing him or someone similar in Jan would have been so useful.
To coach an effective system with no recognised ’9’ takes much longer than José has been given with this squad. There may be some games where a front three of Son, Lucas and Bergwijn rotating positions would be great, but it’s more if a specific plan rather than a simple substitution

The irony is that players such as serge and Sissoko might help to attract edouard to us

Apparently Paul Mitchell is going to be new sporting director for AS Monaco. Was Sissoko his transfer?
If yes this could be good shout. Also Monaco with us were the most serious candidate for Luis Campos.

I really think there won’t be much spending beyond Chelsea and Man City. So far us, Man U and now Liverpool (klopp at the end of this article) have come out and said spending will be minimal. I reckon any talk of massive moves is just nonsense dreamt up by papers to generate clicks. It really sounds like a lot won’t be happening. (If Liverpool bring no players in that would be 2 years without a first team signing).

Sort of agree. Think United will do anything to sign Sancho though.

Some unlikely links to Ruben neves about tonight would love it but the link is most likely bollocks and I can’t see us paying what it would take

No chance that would happen and as good a player as he is, not actually what we need. Would be pissed off if we spent a fortune on Neves but 99% of transfer news in the media right now seems like BS.

Am I alone thinking LB is is weaker than RB?

Aurier has had a decent season, Foyth and Tanganga has potential.

I like Davies as a player but he is too slow to reach top level. Sessegnon seems to be years away. I can't remember a player that seems to be so scared. Kwp are a lot better than him right now.

Edit: with that said I would like to upgrade both but central midfield is a big problem too.

I watched a couple of games with Sess as LWB and he was alright - The Saints game in the fa cup he wiped out James Ward-Prowse and ended his season. However I thought he showed enough to have shown promise - and I personally believe he has had some injury problems with his hamstring that have hampered his development.

There's hope there.

We also have Cirkin to assess, Tanganga in an emergency, and Davies if we want a more defensive position for the game. I'm not saying it's perfect, because ideally I'd have gone for Grimaldo or Telles. However, we do have 4 options for the position.

I think it’s well known what areas could do with being improved on this summer! However I think if we get a dm in the cb position becomes less of a necessity at this point of the rebuild. A good dm protecting our defence should make the centre backs much stronger dier Toby Sanchez and tanganga with a good dm your bound to find a good partnership there with cover also! I’m hoping for a dm which is probably our main concern right now followed closely by a right back! You could make an argument for a left back but like the cb I think with Davies and sess we could be fine for now and I’d try and get sess a good run of games! a back up striker is next on my wish list for this summer I think we are all aware this is a major hole in the squad that was exposed prior to lockdown! Then to put the cherry on the cake a winger/ am on a free between Willian and Fraser and I think that would really strengthen us for next season esp with lo celso bergwijn gedson and ndombele all hopefully also kicking on it would be an exciting squad! All In all a dm rb striker and a winger on a free and I’m happy this summer and it’s very doable at a low cost

Think we should look at Malang Sarr from Nice as a Vertonghen replacement. Sarr's contract expires this month and is only 21. Can play both CB & LB and has a wand of a left foot. Plays some very toby-esque long balls in this compilation vid.

We need a big squad renewal and it seems as though we're going to be dumpster diving. Gonna be left behind
If only we could do what liverpool did and pay £70m for Andrew Robinson. But then again, we're just bound to go hoping to find talent in hopeless Championship players.

For the record this was a joke and I am not an idiot.
