How would godin do in the prem at his age (34/35)?
If it's a team that sits deep it wouldn't matter.. He was never quickest anyway, it was always good positioning why he is a great defender.. You can't play him as part of 3 at back though you need more pace to do that.. Traditional 4 at back & sit deep despite age few better defender's

I'd be very surprised if we don't sign Willian. I don't really have a problem with signing players Mourinho is known to trust, especially in the current climate.
You might as well give him what he wants totally pointless appointing Mourinho if you don't back him

Think he's heading to Lyon.. He'd of been an Inter player by now if they hadn't fucked him about

Yeah, I think he'd be a great free signing especially in this climate. Will be a player with a winners mentality and experience. We just need more of those figures around the place, to really lift the level of quality in all aspects and mentality, not just in ability.

Actually sounds pretty crazy when you list out Gedson, Bergwijn, Sessegnon, Ndombele, Lo Celso & Clarke and realize its been since Summer 2017 that we've brought in a new defender.. No wonder we suck back there. And sure maybe some people want to call Sessegnon a defender but he wasn't a defender last year at Fulham and I don't think anyone actually expected him to play much LB this season.
All be it from the academy, I would class Japhet as an addition who is a defender

Surely son, Bergwijn, lucas, and sessegnon are enough wingers? Especially when we have homegrown issues and massive needs elsewhere

I've felt like we've still needed one more tbh. Obviously other areas take priority but Lamela being out for half the games of a season would be no surprise to anyone, Lucas can often be sub-par and Sessegnon still doesn't really have an established role in the side yet. We could get by with what we have, but with Willian, Bergwijn and Son, you'd like to think the level on the flanks would rarely drop regardless of injury.

Lucas is too hit or miss when he plays. Unless he can finally sort this we need a better option.

Agree - Lucas is a difficult player to assess, on his day, he produces amazing performances but then he goes 3/4 games with no end product. I think for consistent levels, we can do much better but he's a good squad option and potentially an impact player. Seems to have a good attitude generally as well.

Would be a welcome replacement for Lamela's spot.

Hurts to read that. On a sportive level it would make sense but I for myself can not really warm to the thought of replacing Lamela, who always gave 110% for the club on the pitch with Willian, who ditched and mocked us in the worst way probably since Sol.

I do practically agree with all of that but I do think he's easy to assess now. As harsh as it sounds I just simply don't think he's a good enough player to be a regular starter. Sometimes you have to factor in consistency with ability and consistency is something that he doesn't have near enough of. Plus for someone who is pretty quick he doesn't use his pace near enough. From a wide position I can remember Tanganga showing more endeavour in trying to beat a man down the flank than I can remember Lucas doing so.
