Hola spunkbubbles

HAVE YOU DONATED THIS MONTH/YET/AT ALL?

As you all know, SC relies on your donations to be able to provide a unrivalled coverage of ITK, if it wasn't for you guys, the server would crash left right and centre and we simply couldn't afford to run it without resorting to limiting the number of members or something

We know from previous experience that there's a LOT of you who lurk, one time we had 600 voters participate in a poll.

Six bloody hundred. And that's just the yokes who bothered voting. Whichever way you slice it that's a lot. If everyone slung just three or four quid in the pot we'd be sorted for quite a while, so if you've never donated before, please consider doing so now.

I reckon we've a shedload of lurkmeisters, so come on guys, if you're one of them and you enjoy SC's coverage of the Transfer Window (and lets face it, you do because you're here right?), then please chip in. It doesn't have to be a massive amount.

And if you happen to be a Spurs mad gazzillionaire, cough the fuck up. And if you're Daniel Levy, fucking hell shortstuff, put your hands in your pockets. And get the BSoDL to chip in too.

But A&C, where does the money go?

Outgoings: The server costs £400 per month. Forum software purchases/licenses/misc comes to around £500 a year. So currently, the cost of SC is about £5k a year.

Incomings: Advertising/Affiliates can sometimes cover the costs during the transfer window (January, July, August) but thats sometimes. The rest of the year that falls well short. Its difficult to give an exact figure because the numbers don't stay the same but i'd say £100 a month during the quiet months. Donations during the quiet months come to about £50pm if we're lucky.

Rob will know better than I do, but I reckon we're short by about £2500 a year. And the income from ads is probably down.

If one month we raise more than is needed, it stays in the pot as it won't be long before it IS needed. The shortfall is made up out of Robs pocket. I'll repeat that.......It comes out of his pocket. Think about that for a minute. I reckon he pays an average of £50 a WEEK. Just so you lot can abuse each other

This is why i'm often cajoling, nudging, outright begging and open to bribery during the transfer window. It's when the most of you are about and our last big donation drive raised enough to cover costs for a couple of months or so.

Any excess raised stays in the pot until its needed when donations/income goes right down. Absolutely nothing goes on anything other than SC's running costs. Well, occasionally the odd prostitute.......

So, if you'd like to donate, here's the link.

We use Paypal but you don't need an account with them, you can use your card in the same way as making any other online purchase. Very securely.

If they knew Dragusin was out for the season (which we can only assume they did, or at least highly suspected) they should've got that 2nd centre back over the line. Otherwise, happy.

£10.00 in the pot from me. Will give a bit more when my bonus is paid next month.

I'd be lost without this place.

6.5 out of 10 for me. How much longer do we need to give it before we sign a dynamic left footed right winger - I think we’ll miss the boat on Dibling now unfortunately - and another left footed centre back / left back?

The reason we were given for why the Guehi move didn’t happen was because Palace couldn’t find a replacement, however we could have found a solution there by offering them Ben Davies in exchange. Glasner plays 3 at the back and they were short of a left back too. Being an international captain, he could’ve stepped straight into Guehi’s shoes as club captain and fill this important role whilst still being able to live in London, which would probably have appealed to Davies. In fact, you could argue he’d have better suited to Palace’s system than Guehi is! Davies was such a key player in Conte’s back 3 system.

If we’d have moved earlier, we could’ve solved our centre back positions for years to come, whilst other clubs were still recovering financial fair play restrictions. A missed opportunity.

8 out of 10 on the signings we brought in - marked down for not getting a second CB in. 4 out of 10 for execution however as we could and should have moved much quicker on the CB at least. Tel was a big surprise and a massive bonus.

I was hoping that we'd changed our ways and the early signing of Kinski seemed to confirm this - got in early, acted decisively.

I don't know enough about how the market works and the change in price from the start of the window to the end but it feels like we dragged our feet more than was necessary due to the crisis we have been in and missed a chance.

Happy with the players we've brought in, happy the good loans we have for many of the youth prospects will continue but yeah, not quite the ambition and speed of action i was hoping for 6.5/10.

Rating windows is a bit of a folly because the ball is still in the air. For example, I don't know who else we got in the window we got Bale but conceivably it wasn't seen as a great window at the time. Fast forward a few years and we have a superstar and that window has to be upgraded to 10/10 even if everyone else we bought was rubbish.

Obviously very hopeful about the 3 we brought in, plus the 3x 18 year olds, plus the 15 year old. I really love this new youth movement we've got going on here and that more than anything makes me excited about the future.

Happy with the players we've brought in would have been happier had they come in sooner but I honestly don't believe for a moment that there was any chance of Tel moving earlier in the window.
Also worth being happy that none of our players left or even made any noises about leaving, in the season we're having that wouldn't always have been the case.

Left too late and a couple of players short of what we need however the quality of said players we did get, is good. 5/10

Think we did OK. CB became an emergency when Dragusin's season got finished and we made a quality signing there in Danso. Kinsky early doors steadied the ship. Will have to wait and see on Tel but I reckon he'll get a fair bit of game time. We'll have to tinker about with the EL squad but Dragusin and Werner are likely out. Brought in a few young prospects (not forgetting Yang) and shipped a few out for a bit of experience. I think it's pretty clear that you don't make big signings early in the window unless you go full Todd Boehly (and you never go full Todd Boehly).

Much like every window - I'm happy with the players we've brought in, and I'm happy with those we've let leave on loan, and with where they've gone.

Also like every other window - I don't think we did enough, and I think we left it all too late, which may have saved us money but in all likelihood probably cost us somewhere between 3-6 points in the league.

With the situation we're in, we should have had deals lined up, ready to pull the trigger on, and then actually done it.

But we didn't, because we're run by a negligent bald midget who cares more about Beyoncé than the Premier League.

You don't replenish your squad easily in January but in all honesty I think the quality of our acquisitions has been pretty damn exceptional.

I think that is a bit harsh - we brought Kinsky in right away - Tel was only ever possible on the last day or two of the window most likely. The only criticism to make is that we left it so late to bring in a CB - that is unforgivable really.

A fairly substantial criticism, and likely cost us 3-6 points.

So not harsh at all.

When you look at the squad we had at the end of the 2022/23 season. The turnover/surgery has been pretty incredible.

I really think we have the foundation and structure of a really exciting squad that has huge upside and growth within it.

I think we can now go into the summer where clubs should be which is to be looking for 2/3 key, significant additions and 1/2 young prospects

We also have sellable assets now as well which whether we like it or not is pretty important these days for 99% of clubs

I know the immediate short term has been pretty horrendous but I’m really excited about the mid long term.

I mean that also regardless of Manager. These are talented and adaptable players after several years of a very unsuitable squad from Manager to Manager.

the future is bright

As an individual window I believe it has been a decent one.

We’ve bought 3 players in positions we need help with this season and they’ll likely all play with little settling in time.

But if we are to compete we are going to need to be much more assertive in the summer. We need to move on those who haven’t made the grade and bring in some real quality. Particularly in midfield and up front.

Similar to the summer window in that I'm happy with the signings themselves in isolation, but when you zoom out on the bigger picture it shows: (a) a lack of actual strategy and a tendency to just go for financially responsible opportunities rather than pre-planned moves (i.e. could have got Ganso on 1st Jan but waited a month to save 5m) and (b) an inability to address the major problem areas of the squad which have been obvious for months (notably, CB/LB).

Suspect we'll have a summer window where we sign a few exciitng players but leave ourselves very short in a few areas, and we'll be having the same discussions next season, and the season after that etc.
