Please tell me the wonderful players we signed when we were champ lge for 4 seasons with Poch.
Money talks, we just won’t pay the wages

This. We will sign players, but they will be seduced be higher wages.

On Romero, it won’t be wages at Atletico I think but why not just pay him up now? He’s the rock of the defense and our enforcer. He absolutely mentally destroyed Maguire. I want him in my club.

What does it take to entice him to stay? We know he’s what we want and need so just pay him

World Cup next summer. Spurs are irrelevant. That’s all he will be focusing on. Retain the World Cup and equal Brazil.

So we finish 3rd every season for the next 34 years and don’t win a major trophy!

You’ll be happy with that?
That's the depressing state of football right now. When we finished fourth and threw the European tournaments people threw their toys out the pram. Now it's the reverse everyone back pedalling.

Give me a Europa league every season and not relegated and I'd take that every day of the week.

In 10 years time it will say Europa league winners 24/25 and not finished 7th. No one will remember arsenal for finishing second just Liverpool, us, palace and Newcastle.

There's no doubting watching us win a major trophy was a great moment.

But the reality is in the Prem, the only teams who regularly win trophies are at the top end of the table.

True but
arsenal ?

jokes aside getting to top 3 is hard then you need to get lucky and spend well the sheer volume of games makes it hard to win

4 FA Cups in the last 12 years.

Their current drought doesn't change the fact that the teams at the top of the league, win most of the trophies.

It is funny though.

100 percent
under poch our recruitment was shocking we never pushed on or built a good enough squad to win

I think its hard to get lucky to be in the top-3 or 4.

Lucky is an easy draw in a Cup, or a friendly bounce in a semi-final. But, when you have to grind out a season - that is not luck, that is who you are.

Even if you look at Leicester's season - they were legitimately good that year. It was a perfect storm of players matching the tactics, Kante as a cheat code in the midfield, Vardy as the perfect counter-attacking forward, a stout defense that understood their role in a counter-attacking system - Schmeichel a strong shot blocker and a strong leg to start counter-attacks.

And they sacked Ranieri by Xmas the following season.

Regarding the top 4. Englands chances of getting the extra place next season are very diminished by the fact that we have 9 clubs in Europe . Points gained are averaged out so if palace Forest or Newcastle don’t really perform we will lose out. Both countries who had 8 teams in the season just gone failed to get in the top 2 And get the extra place. We lost out the season we finished 5th because both Newcastle and Man Utd failed to get third in their groups and so get in the Europa and gain extra points.

Side-tracking here, but almost half the league being in Europe is a tiny bit insane!

It’s not a myth. CL football nets you so much money it allows you to be competitive. If you don’t have that it’s a real issue. The aim though is to make you competitive on all fronts

Who’s aim, and when you say ‘competitive’ what exactly does that mean??!!

We have seen what is needed to actually win something

Newcastle just won a cup and qualified for the CL via the league. That's what we should be aiming for IMHO. As a few others have said, the top teams are generally also the ones winning the cups these days. I just don't think being a midtable side who regularly win cups is a realistic expectation any more.
