Murray coaching Novak will be weird

It will. I wonder what he'll bring to the party.

I always thought that when Murray retired he might be approached to coach Zverev. Same reliable backhand, occasional unreliable forehand, sometimes flaky but a fighter, and bit of trouble getting over the line in a major.

I'd say that Murrays specialism as a player was always on court tactics and working out how to break down his opponent. He's was one of the best at varying pace of ball and spins mid-game to create angles, probe and put doubts into opponents minds.

If you look at where Djokovic is right now he no longer has the raw physicality or power to match up against the top players in the biggest games so needs to find new ways of finding an edge against them.

Personally I think it's an incredibly bold and clever move by Djokovic to explore this.

Ended up going down a strange rabbit-hole with this but actually looks like it’s a thing.

Fonseca is looking unbelievable for an 18 year old playing his first ever grand slam match.

Just beat 9th seed Rublev in 3 sets.

Honestly think we've just got the final piece for a new Big Three with Fonseca joining Sinner and Alcaraz within the next few years.

Not sure I'd go that far, but he deserved the win.

That flat forehand he can hit is something special :woot:

Will be interesting to see how his consistency is with such limited margin for error. Instantly think to players like Del Potro who could be unplayable when in a hot streak but hitting it so hard and so flat meant he missed far too many when not on top form.

This Draper / Kokkinakis game is shaping up to be a good battle (currently 5-5 in the first set)

Allez Monfils
Always love Monfils, so good to see him have a run this year even if it did end in injury

Alcaraz / Djokovic coming up in the next half hour, should be a cracker.

Can't call this one, both have been very comfortable in their early rounds. Hoping for an Alcaraz win and he goes in as favourite but always hesitant to bet against Djokovic even at this stage in his career.

Alcaraz should be winning this with Djokovic's movement compromised, but it could go either way still. Djokovic slight favourite for me.

I don't follow much tennis, but am I the only one who thinks Radacanu has a massively inflated opinion of herself?

Incredible finish to that set but could Djokovic not just celebrate normally without cupping his ear to the crowd the whole time, god he's so unlikeable

I've not seen anything to suggest she has a high opinion of herself, what's she said?

If anything I think she's always been incredibly grounded for somebody who's had to battle through so many injuries over the past few years.

The constant changing of coaches, pulling out of the dbls match with Andy at Wimbledon, don't know, just always feels like, even though she hasn't done a lot (since her Aus open win, whenever that was). Maybe its just me then!! lol

Not you by any means, I think it's one of those scenarios where the media try to make a juicy story by portraying her as having a massively inflated ego when that couldn't be further from the case.

Take the current Aussie Open as an example, media are trying to spin it as her blaming her coach for her defeat when if you listen to her post match interview she actually said...

“To be on a tennis court, playing matches and competing is something I have to be grateful for,” Raducanu said in her post-match press conference.

“I started hitting when I got here 18 days ago so I have to take a positive that I was able to beat two top opponents in the opening rounds.

Today, no excuses of the back or physically, I just didn’t play well and she played very well. Given the preparation we had I have to be grateful to be in this position but I have a lot of things to take as feedback and work on.

“The biggest positive has been how I’ve approached every single day. I have to be proud of myself and give myself a pat on the back. One of my goals this year is to just be consistent, ride with it and today is going to be a good test and I think I’ll look back and learn a lot from it on what I need to do better."

Comes across to me as very realistic, level headed and prepared to put in the work with a simple goal of finding some consistency (not even talk of competing or winning titles just getting consistency)

Djokovic is such a machine, clean / powerful hitting with incredible consistency proving once again that he can still mix it with the best.

He'll never get the love from the crowd / neutrals that he desperately wants but you can't help but be impressed with his quality

Such a gulf in class between Sinner and De Minaur (a top 10 player). Sinner's looking every inch the world No.1 atm.

Zverev has always reminded me of Murray since I first saw him and now he's at the "losing multiple major finals" stage. Andy eventually did it at the US; can Sascha do it in Oz?

I'm not going very far out on a limb by saying no, not today. I'm predicting Sinner in 3, and hoping I'm wrong.

Sinner looks like he’s struggled a bit more en route to the final? Zverev had less of an ordeal with Djokovic pulling out
