It was just a misinterpretation of Ben's info earlier - Ben wanted to give Modric a piece of his mind, Ben asked Friedel if Modric was still at the Lodge, Friedel told Ben that Modric was.

He didn't. Ben mentioned friedel, then without punctuation said that he (Ben) was waiting for luka. But it looked like he meant friedel was waiting for luka.
