The problem were having is all ITK is getting poo pooed or we just get a general negative statement. We don't get any details, so technically it's not ITK, its just moods being put into words. I appreciate that certain aspects can't be revealed and that people are sharing info, but recently it has been zero info and 100% mood swings. Even the cryptic ITK was better, at least it gave people something to do other then put knives to their wrists lol.

The way I interpret it is that the various ITK offer their info in different ways. People like JJ and Peanut (and Val back in the day) like to give info when it has some substance. I'm sure they could say "we're interested in X", or "we're putting a bid in for Y" but they hold back from the speculation in order to give us details when they're more developed.

Others get decent info that is a mix of first-hand info, and word of mouth rumours - mainly centred on who we're after (and perhaps the general level of optimism within or around the club), which means that their info may be accurate, but is not yet at a point where the likes of JJ or Peanut would comment on it.

Then there are those that get fragments of information from apparently trustworthy sources that they exaggerate or take at face value.

Lastly there are the attention-seeking liars.

In other words a contradiction between ITK doesn't necessarily mean one or both are wrong.

After Yaya I think he's the best all round CM in the EPL myself.

Not "the best," but certainly among the best. Off the top of my head Luka (cough, spit) Silva and Ramires offer more. Without wanting to drag this already off topic thread further into the wilderness, I would suggest that it's odd that Barca are after yet another CM when they quite clearly need reinforcements in the centre of their defence... But whatever. Ultimately, I'm not that bothered about the balance of the squads of either team...

More news from Spanish TV: Modric deal done, will me made official tomorrow & presented in the Bernabeu on thursday. Let the transfers begin

JJSet was very precise tonight - Modric not sold as of now (about 2 hours ago) so it might not be inconsistent.

Other tweets tonight were that Moutinho (in) and Modric (out) deals were being closely co-ordinated so we did not lose one without the other and prices possibly co-ordinated as well

Looks interesting

32m Euros would make me really angry. Would far rather keep him than sell for that.

My first thought too. Maybe currency wrong and it should be £'s - or maybe nobody wanted to bid more and we are buying Moutinho fopr a lot less and an enthusiastic Moutinho was thought essential versus an unhappy Modric ?

Don't think Levy would sell low foir no good reason

just get rid now. lets get the ball rolling and forget all about him

If the reports are true and the move is going to be coordinated with a Moutinho addition I'd be ecstatic. I love the idea of a top-class talent who fits a need and actually has a strong desire to be here (once again, if the reports are true). I think people will be quite satisfied with what Moutinho will bring to this squad.

Surely whatever the fee turns out to be, it will be "undisclosed" particularly as we are no longer listed.....

So whilst I agree 32m Euros is just not enough.... I dont think we will ever really know what the price will be.

i understand the thought process here, but I reckon the problem is modrić is better than moutinho. and that's meant as no slight on against moutinho. modrić is just a rare breed. so in order to make it worthwhile to sell him, we'd need a replacement (moutinho is perhaps the best we can get; he's certainly no slouch) and leftover funds with which to work. if that's not the case, it's not a great deal for us. but as you say, we can't keep an unhappy player for another summer. he forced our hand, the little turd.

A lot of the talk today has been interesting and exciting, then JJ comes along and pooh poohs the lot. Rather deflating isn't it?
