Yeah needs to improve his first touch, speed of thought and his fitness will come back in due time...one thing that you cannot teach though is his ability to appear in the box unmarked which made Lampard such a good player.

Which Dele at his best was so good at. Give him time and renewed confidence in his ability, I believe his best years are yet to come.

Interesting post on Reddit in which the poster suggest the signing of Santiago Ascacibar, 22 year old Argentine DM currently playing for Stuttgart in the German second division. I hadn't heard of him before, but he seems like a player who would fit what we need from the No. 6 position and who would be available in January. Thought it was an interesting shout and wanted to pass it along.

I am living in Stuttgart and I just heard of a few fans they are pretty much disappointed with him right now. Showed good signs when he started there but is not even a difference maker in the second division.

This will seem controversial and I’ll probably get a lot of disagrees but if we need funds and need to sell to raise it, I’d sell Dele. Regardless of form or injuries I just don’t think he fits anywhere in our team especially if we want to play a 4-3-3. We could get a very good fee for him and invest it where we really need it.

I reluctantly agree. I think the two players who we could get a good fee for and not be devastated by losing them, are Dele and Lucas. Im not in favour of selling either, but I can see the sense behind it given the circumstances surrounding both the players in question and our likely need for some funds. Its a real shame what has happened to Dele the last couple of years, and he could still turn it around, but it has been going on for multiple seasons now, even before our terrible run so it isn't just down to that, and it isnt like he's been given no time or chances. Its a tough one, do we stick with him longer and hope he returns to his previous form, or replace him now while we could still get north of 50 mill? But I be totally in favour of sticking with him and would love to see him reach his former levels again. Dier we probably also should have cashed in a couple of years ago, but of course, such misfortunes/downturns are not easy to predict.

I don't necessarily agree with the selling of Dele but i do think this is something good clubs do well. Build with hungry, progressing players and offload to fund fresh purchases semi-regularly.

Our 'process' if you can call it that in recent times is now proving to be massively flawed and we're now being impacted by our lack of transfer activity. Not changing up the squad or positions allows players to stagnate and not play/train with any hunger or drive. I think this was a real misstep by Levy and a bit too much bravado perhaps from Poch thinking his unit could battle through.

Sometimes decent players who don't fit/don't want to progress need to be shifted for players who do.

Yup ( apart from the obvious malcontents) along with Dele, if needs must I’d also sell Moura, who seems to blow hot and cold and it’s clear Poch doesn’t really trust and Dier who had a good season or 2 at DM but now for whatever reason isn’t good enough nor imo good enough as a CB. These 3 should bring in a fair amount

I see the Spanish media are banging on the made up rumours again. Talks advanced for a Benzema and Kane swap plus circa £50m lol. A 31 year old for prime Kane, hmmm.

Good Deal, if Levy can't get this done then I'll lose all faith in THFC.

This is the guy @Ossie85 wanted. Mentioned him a few pages back

I don't know if he would adapt, but we need a DM right now. Plus he should be cheap, and the potential is huge.

He's in the Mascherano mould. Small DM, but very tough

And he also played with Foyth. They both left Estudiantes at the same time

this is exactly the thing we should be focusing on. Squad harmony is as important as base talent imo. Speeds up the 'bedding in' process too if players know each other from previously.

Just to bring this back on track - did Spurs not have tabs on Sander Berge about 18 months ago? Now look at who he is being linked with. How comes he isn't good enough for us back then yet now all of our rivals are being linked to him?

IIRC I think he was coming back from a long term injury and the was uncertainty whether he would be able to reach the same heights he was destined for pre injury

He had also only gotten to Genk about 6 months prior to that IIRC.

He’s missed a lot of games through his young career due to injury. I think it’s been more than just one long spell, but broken out over several.
