I'd love to know we think we're signing for DM if Zakaria has been deemed not good enough, considering he's been one of the standout players for the surprise Bundesliga leaders by all accounts!

Young players constantly develop and improve so hopefully we are taking another look as per the reports.
Now it is quite easy to make a scouting report for Zakaria. But, his value has rocketed as well.

I wonder if our coaching staff and scouting staff think too much of our current players. How can Zakaria not be good enough? I mean fair enough i have only just heard of him like a week ago but from what I have read he seems to be miles better than what we have.

The only DM in our squad now is effectively Skipp (who I rate very highly and want us to integrate more but we also need a more proven option).

Wanyama is finished and Dier seems to have lost mobility (and that was a weakness of his anyway playing in midfield). Sissoko is a B2B CM and doesn't have the defensive awareness or positioning to play DM effectively. Winks has zero defensive awareness or positioning as a DM and needs to play alongside a DM.

We need a player to complement Ndombele. They need to be very mobile, powerful, have good reading of the game and happy to sit in front of the back 4 and clean up whilst being decent on the ball. There simply aren't many top quality options available that fit the mould. Zakaria seems as good a bet as any.

He’s not getting much game time at Barcelona. Could he sort our left sided centre back problem?

I still have faith in Harry Winks especially with Ndombele and Skipp coming through in Winks we are more dominant in possession , but I won’t turn my nostrils up to a dominant CM. Personally I fell were in more need a Uber CB to partner Sanchez... I reserve judgment on Dier ( he could be that full fit with games)

No, he’s injury prone unfortunately

I remember JJ saying that we were not interested in Zakaria (this was earlier, in the summer perhaps) since we he wasn't good enough. Oh well.

Whoever makes the decisions re the quality of the players we’ve scouted needs to be shot or shown the door.

Pereira - not good enough
Tielemans - not good enough
Ndombele - not good enough (a year before we signed him)
Zakaria - not good enough

Yet we deem the following as good enough:

Aurier - vomit
Trippier - Jesus fucking Christ
Sissoko - meh
GKN - what was that about
Janssen - meh
N’Jie - meh
Stambouli - lol

We bought trippier for about £2/3m and sold him for £25m, he was not a bad buy

It’s one thing making money on a purchase and another when they’re a walking disaster on the pitch. Walker was a very good full back, his replacement in Trippier (promoted to 1st choice) was woeful.

You can name so many flops at every club. It happens it’s football! Our scouting team identified Dele, Jan, Toby, Dier, Son, Eriksen for less than 60 combined hardly shit? Aurier we all thought would be the ideal walker replacement let’s be honest. Only player on that list above I wish we had in hindsight is Periera. Don’t think Tielemans is all that for the price Leicester paid anyway.

Zakaria and Sancho in January would be the dream. Big bucks for Sancho but he's worth it. Throw Eriksen or Wanyama over to Dortmund as part of the deal.

Okay I'm only going from what I have seen of Sancho, and when I saw him v us in the 1st half I thought wow a good player. in the 2nd half when we changed formation, which is weird as Poch doesn't do plan B's and we kind of went 4-3-3 in attack, and when defending we went to 4-5-1, and he looked clueless a little like Zaha does with a packed defence. with us literally being the bus parkers over there he was 1 of their less effective.

I think he’s suffering from Wanyama-itis. IE Injuries have wrecked his speed and mobility.

Alli - talented and actively pursued by both ourselves and Liverpool
Jan and Eriksen - already recognisable talents playing for a very good Ajax side
Son - was doing well in Germany
Dier - a very good signing and for peanuts. He had an excellent debut season and then a very successful season as DM. However since then he’s been plagued with injuries, illnesses and piss poor form
Aurier - we all thought he would be the ideal replacement? Did we hell. The guy was and is crazy, the transfer nearly didn’t happen as he was facing jail time.

Whereas the players we passed on:

Tielemans - was already a talent whom didn’t have a successful spell at Monaco. He went on loan to Leicester and was excellent, yet we still didn’t feel he was good enough. You know Leicester that are flying high in the league.
Pereira - had a very good season on loan and was, and is explosive going forward... yet we passed on him also.
Ndombele - was outstanding for Lyon, and then went on to have another excellent season.

We’ve passed on players whom have already performed and shown they’re good enough ... yet gone onto sign players most have either never heard of, or they haven’t done anything of note, or have already shown they’re not good enough.

You're reaching with the Ndombele point, we didn't pass on him - we just decided not to spend any money that summer.

if Dier is going to be a CB with Sanchez, I pray Poch swaps them around. Sanchez can use his left foot so much better than Dier
