Because the player won't accept leaving for the realease clause. Real Madrid's offer was 20m 1 year ago
Inter Milan is constantly scouting the player. So if you want to beat anyone you should pay a little extra. That's why I said 25m
Levy will love this guy. Sign him for 25m put a 100m release clause in his contract and hope that the player insists on the buying club pays £150m when he leaves!

Agreed. The only thing in our favour (and we’ll definitely not be the only team in for him) is he’s refusing to sign a new deal and has a season and a half left on his contract.

Lets imagine that is the case. I can guess there will be at least five other teams blowing us out with a better financial offer for Leipzig and the player.

Gotta be honest, I find Isco at this point to be incredibly overrated.

He had one assist last season. For a #10 that is terrible.

He's been shifted to the wrong position. He's poor as a CM in 433 which RM plays now

At his prime he always played pure AM at 4312 or 4231 or something similar. The mess with the managers at RM doesn't help him either

In my opinion in AM role he's still far better then Bruno Fernandes. Different universe

PS and far better then Dele (who is second striker played as AM)

I don’t think it’s a positional thing, it’s just his desire has gone. He’s just got used to be being bit-part player and picking up his mammoth wages.

Exactly, a release clause means the club has to accept offers from the club if offering enough to meet the clause.

Could be a Rupstoh moment coming up.

The only one that can activate the release clause is the player. When clubs pay the release clause, they are doing it with the permission of the player
On top of that, release clause fees are net of comissions and taxes. So the total amount is actually closer to 20m for the buying club

Why? There are many examples of players suffering when played out of position. Imagine Sissoko switched in AM role, would have been pure dramedy

Isco's attributes shine when played closer to the box not B2B ball-carrier

Further his wage is good but not THAT big. He does EUR 230K/week, much less than that of Sanchez or Ozil

To be honest if we get one top quality player in Jan I will be happy. It will be one less to do in the summer. I just can't see us doing 2 or 3 in Jan as much as we'd all like it.

If I was betting on anything it would be Eze from QPR.

No, they can’t just buy a Championship player in Jan, however good he may be, the optics would be all wrong.

I'm completely with you. Personally I'd rather see us sign one top player in January than a couple that don't hit the mark. Realistically we are 5-7 players away from the revamp, we can't expect that to happen all at once so if we can get a little done in Jan so we can have less hassle in the summer and moving forward in other windows then I'm all for it.

Unfortunately for the club we have 3 previous mainstays in Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderweireld all out of contract all at the same time. It's not ideal but if a couple of them won't re-sign what more could we do apart from flog in the summer just gone or the one before?

The immediate need is probably a really good right back if Foyth isn't the one for the role, if so then a DM so we stop bleeding goals

Been doing some more digging and research, I think we should go all in for Zakaria as our DM signing in January.

Seems to have all the attributes we need and has been deployed as a lone holding midfielder, double pivot DM and even in a back 3 this season.

We should also be carefully monitoring Marco Rose, their manager, should Poch leave or get sacked.

Another one with absolutely 0 % chance we can attract in January. They are in the middle of their first title hunt since decades and won't sell their best performer in midfield at any price, that is extremly obvious.

Zakaria and Sancho in January would be the dream. Big bucks for Sancho but he's worth it. Throw Eriksen or Wanyama over to Dortmund as part of the deal.

Our scouting is shambolic.

I'd love to know who we think we're signing for DM if Zakaria has been deemed not good enough, considering he's been one of the standout players for the surprise Bundesliga leaders by all accounts!

Young players constantly develop and improve so hopefully we are taking another look as per the reports.

Which is funny and depressing when you compare him to our dross on the pitch.
