I think the answer is keep them, but when they get to 2 years left on contact sell.

For example we never should have sold Walker with 4 years left on his contract.

But Eriksen has proved we should have sold high a year and a half ago.

Problem with Eriksen is though he may have always had the idea he was going to see out his contract and you can’t make players leave.

With two years left on his deal if someone like Real had come in we might have sold, but then Levy would be getting flack for not supporting Poch, not being ambitious etc, so he can’t win at time’s.

At least now if we end up selling someone with two years left and not looking like signing we can reflect back upon how Eriksen situation has panned out.

tanganga, one of our own

Yeah, would love to see more of him. When Vetonghen and Alderweireld are bot gone I would also quite like an experienced, classy CB to complement the trio of Tanganga, Sanchez and Foyth (supplemented by Dier too).

Well yeah. If we get indication from a player with 2 years to go, that they do not intend to sign a new contract then maybe it's just worth trying to get as much as possible from another club.

If a new contract isn't signed at that 2 year left point, they should be reduced to a bench player/squad player and replacement signed. There's no way a top player is going to sit out 2 years of their career.

Atal does look good attacking wise but I wonder how good he is at defending? It seems like he hasn’t even played right back that much lately.

The thing is, a top team attacks way more than they defend. Attacking part is probably more important, the second thing for me, is the fear that it puts into the opposing team and the amount their wide players are pushed back or distracted by it. Which we currently don't have.

AAT at Liverpool isn't a great defender and when you see him put under pressure he is quite easily beat, but the reason that goes under the radar is because Liverpool attack most of the game and he is very very good in the final third.

As much as i wanted Wan Bissaka, who i think is one of the best one on one full backs in the world, he doesn't offer much going forward but is super solid. If we play with a solid DM, i'd much rather have full backs like Atal, Sess etc and do the damage in the final third.

We probably need to prioritse a left-footed centre back as well.

Anyone know of any (aside from Ake who could be a good option).

IMO, Ramsey's transfer to Juve and the ridiculous salary he got has changed a lot of things. I imagine a whole load of players are now thinking 'I'll have some of that'. Eriksen maintains that he's not financially motivated but I take that with a pinch of salt. In 2017, things were more straightforward but I think money played a pretty big part in Walker's move to City although you can't deny that he's picked up plenty of silverware as well. Times have changed now though and I think Levy has tried to stay ahead of the game with the updated contacts he's been dishing out to our top players. I think from now on we have to be prepared to sell some players before we reach the position we're currently in. IMO, that means starting to make plans when contracts have 3 years left to run, which in effect means players need to be signing 5 or 6 year contracts as a matter of course.

To a certain extent that's true, but every club still has a budget for wages and that'll affect the overall market. Essentially, I'd be surprised if Eriksen commands what Ramsey gets paid a week, especially after his less than stellar performances.

I would love to be able to find another player similar to Son who could flank Kane on the other side.

After this Sheffield game, I'm fully convinced both fullbacks should be priority 1A and 1B. Simply having competent ones who can pass and don't bring play to a dead stop will take pressure off the CBs. Unless Mr. Walking Yellow Card (Foyth) plays lights out in the next few matches, I'd permanently move Sissoko there for the rest of the season. At that point, all you need is a serviceable DM...nothing great...maybe try Skipp or Foyth.

Priority 2 should be a speedy Winger/Forward...since Poch refuses to play Moura there. You don't need anything spectacular from a crossing or scoring perspective. You need someone to run the channels and STAY WIDE to give Kane/Alli space. Maybe Sess is the plan here, but we like another one for the future when Son moves on.

Everyone here loves to harp about Tielemans, but he's probably the third on my wishlist of the Leicester midfielders.
