I don’t think he’s that much of an upgrade on Sissoko for the price he’d command and the fact that he’s only a couple of years younger. Good player, but think we’ve got to work the market smarter.
I think it’s irrelevant cause we’re not going to buy a high priced player at that age would be my guess.

Watching Norwich v Watford to have a look at Aarons. Only 20 minutes in but he’s doing ok defensively and has no cover in front of him so not really gone forward yet. Looks quick but short. So unsure.

edit: on this showing I’d say he’s no better than KWP. Had KWP had as much game time as Aarons has had we’d probably be after him. Says it all really.

I haven't watched much of Aarons, but I've long thought that the biggest difference between KWP and Aarons is opportunity. If they had switched teams last year, I bet KWP would've ended the year seeming better because he would've likely played for a good Norwich team in the Championship and Aarons would've been stuck behind Trippier and Aurier, barely playing. All of which is not to say Aarons isn't good or won't end up being much, much better than KWP, which is certainly possible... just that we need to consider their team situations and the player who is playing always will seem to be better.

The other thing about Aarons I worry about is that he's still gonna be raw and take some time to really shine, so he doesn't strike me as an immediate fix to our RB issues. I don't mean any of this as a slight - I think he's gonna become a terrific player and it very well may make sense to make a move for him, but I just don't see him as a savior this season or maybe even next season.

I'd rather we kept Foyth at RB, sold Aurier and took a risk on Atal. Good options having Foyth and Atal, plus KWP can play his obligatory 3 games.

i really hope we change our stance on loans. Skipp, Tanganga, kwp should all go out on loan in January. Championship or PL.

They are completely being wasted sitting on the bench (if lucky) or more likely never playing.

I would personally like ziyech in to replace Lucas :nailbiting:

Ziyech blows too hot and cold for me. Plus isn’t he near 27 years old? Haven’t checked his age.

For the money he would cost, I'm sure we could invest it smarter elsewhere. He looks talented but I get the impression he has a bit of Deulofeu about him. Great on his day but not one consistent enough to give you the stuff you need at the top.

Dani Olmo, Sander Berge, Max Aarons, Benoit Badiashile & Andre Onana would be a great & realistic way to complete the rebuild.

We need to go all in for Youcef Atal. He'd bring that pace and energy we've missed since prime Walker. Not sold on Aarons yet. I'm not saying he doesn't have potential, but every match I've seen him play this season he's looked like a passenger. We need a guy who can make an instant impact in that spot.

He would have been 24/25 if we’d of signed him when we should of. Lots of posters picked him (Here or on coys, I can’t remember) as an Eriksen replacement back When he was dithering about signing his last contract.

Posters have also recommended a tonne of highly rated players who turned out to be mediocre m. Tricky business this scouting game

He’d just come off a great season for Twente in 2016 and I remember ready an article about him on the 442 website that basically predicted he’d continue that and be the player he is now. He sounded perfect for us then. It was at a time fans wanted an Eriksen rotation option (or front three option) and he was the perfect transfer target. Coming into his prime, posted great goals & assist numbers and wasn’t expensive at all (I think he went to Ajax for about £10 million). I never felt it a risk.

That's true, plus you don't know what's going on behind the scenes with agents, the player's attitude, family issues, etc.

That said, I think we can all agree that a club of our size should probably have done a little better in the transfer market over the last 2 or 3 seasons.

I think in January we should be looking to get in Bruno Fernandes 25 years old, scores goals and creates goals which we desperately need at the moment. I think our issue is mainly that despite often controlling possession we don't have enough threat or penetration. This ultimately puts pressure on our defence as the opposition don`t really fear us..
Also as part of starting the rebuild I would like to see a young centre back like Nathan Ake come in..

Really wouldn't get Onana, he has lapses of concentration and can be inconsistent over a season. On his day he is excellent but I don't think he would be good enough for a team like us. If we want a young keeper we should be after Alban Lafont, big fan of his and only 20. Would good to bring him to learn from Lloris for a season, play him in cup games, then let him take over.

Didn't settle, but it was a big ask for a 19 year old and they weren't really prepared to go through the growing pains of having a young keeper. They still own him, but I believe Nantes have a buy option on thier loan.

Olmo should be almost a priority even if we need RB and DM more, he improved a lot this season, every game (especially in CL) he has couple of insane dribbles but more importantly incredible through balls. Ivanušec from Dinamo is another great potential but they probably won't sell him yet, he will be used more next year when they sell Olmo. KWP is too slow, we need someone with real pace and Atal would be perfect, him and Sessegnon bombarding on flanks would be similar to what we had with Walker and Rose. We just need one good DM to cover for inevitable holes in the defence and Poch could even get back to playing 3 at the back. Also I agree about Onana being too expensive, Lafont is better and cheaper.

Considering how well Olmo seems to be doing wouldn't be surprised if someone bigger then us goes in for him. Even if they don't, did we ever have any real interest in him or was it just paper talk?
