If we sign Ndidi for 80m, then Leicester go out and replace him with a 20m player that is just as good.
There are good ones out there, it's the Premier League proven tag that cost.

Who is out there though? Florentino is the only young DM i can think of and reports are that he will cost almost as much as Felix did.

I cant think of one DM who is ready to step into our first 11 that wont cost loads

These lines/statements really gets me.

Our defenders are crap. There said it. Toby and Jan have been getting away with murder whenever they are called upon to defend they're a complete let down face them up one on one very poor, ran at them with pace very poor, interceptions and commanding very poor...their main attributes are long diagonal balls. The drop off is alarming...but still people think there the nuts at Spurs

It doesn’t help that Poch persists with playing his ageing centre backs on the bloody halfway line... asking for trouble.

Ndidi himself came unproven from Genk, doubt many were aware of him or at least sure he'd be our quality level.
Genk wasn't too fussed about losing him, as they signed Sander Berge and felt he was an improvement on him again.

The problem is that it’s taken him a good season or two to really adjust to the PL, although having a decent coach in Rodgers has helped too.

Genk is a nice little club to always keep a eye out for. I went to a few games there when travelling to Belgium alot and they seemed to always have some eye-catching uknown ballers.

Yup good line of players that have come through there: de Bruyne, Leon Bailey, Kalidou Koulibaly, Milinkovic-Savic, Benteke, Defour, Praet, Carrasco, Courtouis, Origi etc.

Thomas Partey has a €50m (£43.5m) release clause. I'd be very surprised if we were able to recruit him from Atleti given the state we're in right now, but Atleti themselves are struggling to adjust to having lost Griezmann, Rodri, and Lucas Hernandez (they've managed 7 goals in 8 games in the league), and Partey was recently robbed twice in the span of 48 hours, so who knows, he may have some interest in leaving Spain. It'd be quite a coup.

Also, if people are into new GKs..

Anyone seen Mike Maignan at Lille? 23 years old and won GK of the year in France. 17 clean sheets & 30 goals conceded.

Looks very good on the clips, especially with his feet. Although wish you wouldn't link players I haven't heard of that I'll end up being mad about when we don't sign them.

Whether he’s a prick or not I don’t know, but Rabiot clearly has a lot of upside technically and physically. Him with Ndombele and Winks would be a lot of technique and energy in one midfield, though the whole team would need to develop better movement and cohesion as there’s neither an obvious attacker, nor defender in that three. However, Liverpool’s midfield three of Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Henderson can be described similarly so if we went that way, it’s all about the movement in front and discipline behind.

Fabinho clearly is a defensive midfielder. He used to play as a RB. His addition to the team gave their midfield a much, much better balance and stopped them trying to shoehorn Henderson into playing DM when it’s not really his best role.

I know Bulgaria were pants but the way Kane plays for Eng as a hybrid 9/10 is really what we should be looking to do with our rebuild.

Kane drops off and Son comes in from the left the way Sterling does and we find another rapid forward to come in from the right and fill the vacated space.

Ndombele and Lo Celso pulling through strings in midfield in front of a solid DM.

would love to see it but I think Poch is wedded to his diamond long term

I don’t think so, I think he just sees it as the best way to get Son up front and do some of Kane’s running. The problem with him adopting a more 433 though is his inherent distrust of wingers, although if Kane does drop back slightly you could call them forwards in the way Mane and Salah are.

I've said a few times I'd love to see Kane play a little deeper either behind the single striker in Son in a 4-2-3-1 or behind the pair of Son/Moura who can go at wide out of possession. It's not a popular opinion but I think this is where his skill set lies and also stops the need for him to be the one initiating the press. whilst he won't solve our Eriksen problem I believe the combination of him, Ndombele and Lo Celso would.
