Surely have our club function within its means is a better long term thing for the club than an owner throwing £200m-£300m and our finances not being sustainable long term right?
Those owners mentioned won't keep pumpin money into their clubs and eventually when they don't they'll have a wage bill and expectation in the transfer market that their profits and financials won't be able to cover
We at a crossroads, so yes a once off cash injection of say £150 million in addition to reinvesting player sales cash would help. You dont have to treat it like a play thing just sensible assistance in helping the club push on and remain competitive.
Imagine what a £ 150 million outlay on some quality additions would have done to our current campaign... It would have us closer to Liverpool in the league and guaranteed CL for next season.
You never know, the owners may very well do something like that in the future. People need to remember that the money Liverpools owners have given to them isn't like the City owners, it's been loaned to Liverpool albeit at a low or next to nothing interest rate. The club took a risk, backed Klopp granted, but they don't have a c£500m-£600m debt hanging over their heads like we do.
Tough times but good times all the same,we can't control it so I don't see why people don't just sit back and try their best to enjoy the levels we get to see the club play at at present. Bernabeu, Nou Camp, the last 8 in Europes elite competition, it's a great thing to experience
Spending the amount i suggested on prudent player acquisitions who increase in value is a no brainer. Yes very much like what Liverpool have done. That would not have impacted the debt at all instead it would ensure financial stability as you'd have current scenario of the dippers assured if CL football. I can assure you they will reinvest this season too, thus assuring they stay at that level.
Look ultimately we worked for many years to get to this level. All i wanted was continued long term player investment to keep us competitive AND continue to keep Chelsea and Arsenal out if those CL positions.
I agree on general basis, but as a result of doing this approach to a very great extent for many transfer windows, after a few seasons a higher number of players is needed. For the first time in ages, I believe we need 4 player of various positions, who could immediately fight for a starting spot. I very well know it won't happen, but I think it's what we would have needed. CB and CM we need absolutely, secondarily top AM and top FB would be extremely smart.I dont think a massive overhaul is a great idea, its had a negative impact rather than positive for us and other teams in the past. It seems too much change causes disruption and you end going backwards for quite some time.
.
FFS the agent was talking to Barca and doing a deal with them as well we were never allowed to bid more or counter it once that happened. Deal closed.
I think we should or should’ve already gone for him. Whenever I see him I essentially think “this is what Ben Davies would be like if he was rapid.” Got a cracking left foot on him too.
He’s going to be expensive for a Scottish player, probably at least £25m, but we need to be committing for these sorts of players before they’re proven. 1 good season in the prem and he’s £50m and out of sight.
I don’t ever want us to sign a full-back again who isn’t lightning quick and full of energy. It’s absolutely crucial to the way we play and it’s frankly just horrendous planning that out of the 5 full-backs we have only Rose could be described as particularly quick, and even he is on the decline.
He looks perfect for us to be honest. Not cheap but gettable and now semi-proven in the EPL. Would be pretty shocked if we weren’t sniffing around.
People need to accept that most clubs in the league at present are ran via owner shares, owner loans repayable or for vanity.
Do people genuinely think these owners that do throw money at clubs either:
a. Don't expect their money back eventually like at Chelsea
b. Will continue throwing money at something that isn't making them as much as it's costing them
Also just because a small minority of other football club owners have gone absolutely insane doesn't mean our club has to. We've invested huge amounts into having the 2nd biggest stadium in England, and the 5th in Europe compared against teams richer than us (behind Man U, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich).
Surely people understand that this is a bigger, more important investment than signing a £50m midfielder or a £75m CB
personal frustrated opinion here but our owner could stick his hand in his pocket and help our chairman massively and we can really push on but it never bloody happens so its run as business not a plaything like Chelsea City PSG & Liverpool!!
