Well statistically speaking we are having our best season right? Highest points total and quarter finals of Champions League, We managed to replace King, Modric, Bale and VDV. so I feel like we've been able to adequately replace just failed to improve on enough to actually win a trophy.

I think we usually find a way by investing large fees in into multiple deals, allowing us to become a better unit whilst losing a bit of magic in the process etc. This time around it'll be tricky as most players we will be interested in will start off at around the £25m-£30m mark and there's not many players in our squad we'll sell that will generate 3x that kind of figure etc.

Alderweireld's trigger clause, Eriksen's contract situation, they'll be our 2 biggest fees in. If we lose them but being in Andersen & Brandt as their replacements we'll make money on both sales that we have as surplus to use for other positions.

Alderweireld, Eriksen out for £80m Joachim Andersen, Julian Brandt & £35m left over would be very good business given the circumstances. Do that and add a good quality CM with the money I'd be content with that along with certainnfringe players coming off of the wage bill so we can freshen up in other positions too, albeit not with lavish spending

There’s a massive job to be done in replacing and restructuring the squad. Hopefully we’ve already started with this behind the scenes. Very much doubt we’ll come stronger out after the summer though, and I seriously fear for Poch

Getting champions league last season didn’t result in us getting anyone in the summer. What matters to players is money, pay them enough and they will come, champions league or not.

Good thing is we still have that money banked. Bad news is we've never gone a window without selling so we can buy, I think the lack of ours and the limited squad positions given our financial situation hindered us last year. Not sure if that's because the rest of Europe had an extended window or not but this year at least 3 of our players (Vorm, Dembele previously & Llorente), along with the Toby clause means at least 4 from the start of the season and roughly £200k-£250k per week in wages will now be off of our wage bill.

I'd be very surprised if inflation rates keep rising in football as well

I don't think that's always the case. Sessegnon said this about us at the start of the season: "Of course as a young player, when you get linked to these clubs playing Champions League football, it's always flattering."

I actually think it suits us (and Poch) when we sign young players full of energy and potential, they're the ones who seem to adapt to him the quickest.

The list of teams he would leave us for can't be very long, you have to imagine. The number of those who'll actively be pursuing a new manager this summer will be even fewer.

Where are the most likely destinations? Paris? Munich? Another part of London...?

It’s amazing how in the space of 2 seasons we’ve gone from needing a couple of quality players to push for the title to having a bloated squad full of average joes, 2 of our elite players running for the hills, and a serious squad overhaul needed to get us back on track. You snooze you lose, a lesson we seem incapable of learning.

At some point in the future I can absolutely see him coaching PSG. Ex-club and he is admired from afar there.

Secondly, I do think people are too hung up on the idea of him going directly to another club, whereas I think if he was to have a fallout with Levy and 'the project' was to become derailed I imagine that he'd just quit and sit it out with his stock high, waiting for a club to become available.

Hope none of that comes to fruition and that he is able to go through this next phase with us, improving us even further. It's going to be tough though.

This is starting to evolve into a potentially irksome summer for us Spurs fans. Specifically if we miss out on the top 4... which is a 50/50 proposition at best. Because if we do, it would seem that it'll heavily influence our list of target players and could mean a few higher profile departures. My fingers are firmly crossed, that should we fail to qualify for CL, that it won't trigger a massive rebuilding period, pushing us to the bottom of the Top 6 teams.

Hopefully Eriksen and Toby leaving is about the size of it. It'd be super depressing if Kane/Dele wanted out as well.

Given Tuchel's failure in the CL, I'd imagine it doesn't matter whatever he does with psg, he's gone. Let's see if poch Francis 6 meaningful games a season...

I can see Poch going there but only if he has been unable to win something with us and decides he wants to win stuff at any cost.

I totally disagree either way Tottenham have to spend money to give them a fighting chance to make money from the CL. The way I see it, if say , we don’t qualify from our league position , we’ll be forced to spend even more heavily to challenge next season for you guessed CL. With the stadium the emphasis will be CL football.

you seemed to of missed the point. JJ even in that tweet is saying Poch will look at going if Toby is offered a new contract, and signs it.

Toby pissed Poch off big time and would of been happy if he had gone last summer, but we never got anyone in. think Foyth would be able to cover Sanchez, and Sanchez replace Toby, where as in the summer Poch most probably wasn't 100% sure if Foyth was ready to step up, so has used Toby more than he wanted. if we sealed a CL place up early and went out of the CL, I'd not be shocked if Toby plays the final few games

He's staying, yes they failed but he has connected with the squad in ways others before him haven't. He's also a really good coach.

Ok cheers mate. I find Tweet threads pretty hard to read at times. Thanks for clarifying.

FWIW I think Joachim Andersen will be Toby’s replacement.

I think he's going to be Jan's... he will be the CB we buy after Toby goes but I think he'll play on the left.
