If Wanyama is finished, we need a DM asap. Dier is truly awful

I think all of the criticism of dier is over the top. He was poor today and has been all season with the exception of the CL game he played cb. But he’s barely been healthy for the last 12/18 months. He just needs to play himself back into fitness and form. He’s never going to have the best passing range, but he’d run through a brick wall for the team and he’s a really smart player. He just looks out if shape and off the pace right now. I don’t think its a permanent thing like we’re seeing with Big Vic.

Even at his best, he had slow reactions and moved like a fridge. We need a lot better than that or we are going to lose all the midfield battles.

Absolutely- he’s too ponderous. We definitely need a better CDM, no question about it. Someone more mobile, with more effective distribution

I‘d prefer a new defensive midfielder or maybe Skipp given opportunity but can see Mourinho trying to work with Dier as it’s well know he rates him.

And Dier has had health problems recently so needs to find his groove so will be interesting to see how it pans out as to whether Mourinho moulds him into a better player or brings someone else in.

Rated. Of course Mourinho is going to try him out in DM, but he wanted to sign him years ago. Stuff has changed since.

Think we have to get used of Dier again in midfield now.

Tbh I thought first half he did well off the ball closing down passing lanes but on the ball he was horrendous.

maybe he’ll get better the more he plays.

100% going to need a proper back up striker with that style. Can't see Sonny or Moura working up front with that direct approach.

Cavani on a free transfer in summer, big wages but would suit style.. send Parrott out on loan for couple seasons

I think so. I’d love to know how many minutes of football he’s played this year. I bet it’s less than 500.

Defense, defense, defense. If that’s the new and consistent Dele I’d rather get a player similar to Son than buying Bruno Fernandes or another #10.

Maybe Chiesa, Oyarzabal at Sociedad but seems City will be all over him, Werner, Everton, Dembele from Barca, etc.

I think there’s little question that Dier is still working his way back after all of the illnesses and surgeries, etc., but for me he isn’t the solution even at his best.

He simply doesn’t possess the qualities of a modern No. 6. He can’t dribble his way through a press, he dawdles on the ball, and he gives it away cheaply putting us under massive pressure. The penalty that should have been given against Aurier in the first half is a perfect example of why Dier should never be our first choice DM. He’s a good player who’s far from his best for understandable reasons, but his future is at CB.

I’m sure he’ll improve significantly from what we saw today, and in doing so will lift the performance of the team as a whole, but I sincerely hope that bringing in a DM is a top priority for us in January regardless of whether he rounds into form because even at his best he isn’t an ideal fit for what we need.

Soooo... I've started playing the latest installment of FM(cue laughter) and signed Armando Izzo the first thing I did after getting rid of Toby and Verts.
In the game he's been the dogs bollocks for me but does anyone now if he's any good in reality?
Plays for Torino

If we are going to play with two wide like we did today the we will need a couple of more widemen or tricky attackers. We don’t really have any others

He was pretty good 18/19, linked with Arsenal as well, not sure this season
