No concerns over his athleticism/mobility? I understand he can play a ball and has more footballing ability than wanyama or dier but not really sure he would make us more dynamic. Of course that might not matter depending upon who is paired with him but it is a concern that perhaps those that support this potential xfer can shed light on.

His ability to play the ball better than Dier or Wanyama is precisely why he would make us more dynamic. He shifts the ball quickly and usually accurately where our current CMs (apart from Winks) dither about with it.

Next to no chance for N'Dombele, that ship sailed a while ago imo. Diawara from Napoli is much more realistic.

Ndombele seems to be Pochettino first chioce along with Rabiot. I'd like to see us go in with an acceptable offer to the club and player if the player rejected fair enough...we move on also Pochettinho has been backed.

I have no idea where you've got this from because we haven't been linked to Rabiot in ages (and even when we were linked it was just about him rejecting us) and JJ said so many times we weren't really interested and it wasn't happening.

No, not precisely because you need other folks showing and able to receive those passes which currently we have none. And playing the ball better/faster than Dier or Wanyama is mighty low threshold for a player. There are 2 players on our team that will seek/take a ball under pressure and you can be somewhat assured that they will wriggle away with it. Both of those players are named Harry and only 1 of those does this work in the MF where it is an actual requirement of the job.

Shifting the ball quickly will be 1 requirement but that is easily shutdown under pressure with no outlet. Can he hold the ball against pressure? Can he escape pressure with the ball at his feet? Can he deliver those quickly shifted balls on the move with precision? What are his defensive instincts? Does he read the game or is he a hunter? What about his actual mobility and dynamism? Is he like peak Wanyama who was always hunting but slow enough to be passed around without an equally active hunter? Does he prefer to work centrally or does he read the field well enough to play on the move? etc etc etc.

This is how you judge a MF, specifically a more defensive MF, and what I was looking for. I watched this kid 3 years ago at Bologna when there were rumors of a 5M move to us. I have not watched him at Napoli so I have no idea of his maturation and play nowadays. but I have seen another player from that summer that we were linked with and he does show these qualities. And even so I am not sure I would be setting up the whole season with the expectation that he would 'make us more dynamic' due to his intrinsic qualities rather than a significant improvement in the players around him.

Not poo-pooing this mooted move. Hell, anything of value for Tripps is good in my eyes. Just trying to better understand from those who have watched him.

Would Poch make a cock out of himself by announcing to the world all the shit about the "Next Chapter " etc. if he wasn't convinced we are gonna go big; focus on and build a team to compete for the biggest prizes?

Fuck it, I'm in. One more time. Balls deep.

Cambiasso won the league with Leicester.

It's not the same discussion anyway, as Modric is completely next level in passing and vision
No he didn't. He ironically (after being their best performer yet they went on to be even better without him) left that summer I assume with the expectation of another relegation fight. Let's hope Tripps is leaving us this summer because he doesn't want to waste his career for Top 4 trophies. That's us sorted for the PL next year lads.

Oh, anyway my point still stands as he was great for that season, winning Leicester's POTY, he was 35
