My understanding of racism, real racism, is that there has to be intent. Stupidity followed by an apology, followed by a face to face grovelling apology, where the victim publicly forgives, is not racism. It's stupidity.

There should be no ban and it should be left to the club to determine any punishment.

@FloridaSpur I'm not sure why you're agreeing with my post. To be clear, I was questioning your comment (not agreeing with it), because I think its completely ridiculous.

This ban if it happens, reinforces the No to Racism cause that the FA are fully behind. So in one way its a good thing.

BUT, It has to be consistently applied.

and in the past, it definitely has not. I put up a post in the player thread and from the list of incidents it is hard to see which one the FA deems as being the most serious. Granted it's over a period of 12 years but the punishments vary from nothing at all, an apology and small fine, to 7-8 games and a fine. The fines range from 40k to 220k. That puts this comment at the very top of the list of punishments and almost on the same level as Luis Suarez abusing Evra during a game.

Then you get UEFA handing out tiny fines to national associations for racism by the fans and/or players during international matches. And FIFA doing nothing at all (so far) regarding the Argentina issue. Football has a very strange standard when dealing with racism or perceived racism (as in the case of Cavani commenting to a friend on Instagram in Spanish and receiving a 3 game ban and 100k fine), or maybe no standard at all - which they definitely should develop if they haven't already.

Don't help me. I have my understanding of it and you have yours. I am obviously a bit more forgiving of ignorance and stupidity and you are not. I choose to try to educate and debate with people who, I believe, have goodness in them that they should demonstrate properly. You seem to want harsh punishments for absolutely everything.

We are on the same side, just taking a different approach. I don't know how it is possible to ever relax and enjoy life with your approach, but good luck to you.
