The Standard "understands", so it's speculation at the moment (though probably informed speculation). Whatever the punishment, a minimum ban of six games, or the seven touted or more, it's an outrageous over-reaction. He was an arse for saying it, he admitted he was an arse, he apologised straight away. Fine him heavily or ban him for four games, but please let's have a balanced reprisal.
Bah! and double bah! This, Ipswich, Ange in/out, Levy ditto, Richarlisons latest injury, the very thought of Arteta, bent referees - it's all too much; 19th nervous breakdown coming up.

The only thing I don't quite get, is the lack of consistency. As long as it's like this going forward then it might make players use their brain cells before speaking.

I don't really have a problem with the ban considering. Although 7 feels a touch excessive?

It’s a ridiculous decision if true. What about Enzo? Did he get punished?

It was a clear racist remark.

The club should have suspended him until the FA made their decision, or if true should add to it.

Levy of all people should have been revolted by his remarks about Son.

To say this is "a ridiculous decision" is plain crass.

I can’t agree with that, no Spurs player should ever be subject to a ban/suspension, regardless of what they’ve done.

I don’t understand why the club has to suffer for his Incompetence. Instead the player should be fined personally or be docked wages, but losing him for 7 games is just punishment to the club. Please someone explain how this makes sense?

It’s not a clear racist remark and I say that as someone of Asian heritage.

it’s a stupid, ill advised and ignorant thing to say, perhaps even a stereotyping sort of remark, but I wouldn’t be kicking off and asking for a HR investigation if someone said that to me in the office at work

As far as im aware not a single member of the Argentine team caught singing the song below have been punished in any capacity so apparently racism AND sexism is best served up in a song with your mates if you don’t want to get in trouble!

”Listen, spread the word
They play in France but they’re all from Angola
How lovely, they will run
They are trans lovers like that f*** Mbappe
Your mom is Nigerian, your dad is Cameroonian
But on your ID, it says French nationality.”

Unbelievable.

Curious as to why Levy would give so much of a shit, did not know he was of Asian origin!

This ban if it happens, reinforces the No to Racism cause that the FA are fully behind. So in one way its a good thing.

BUT, It has to be consistently applied.

No problem with the ban but feel like the timing needs to be immediately after the sentencing has passed. Not several months down the line

Surely in these situations, it is better for a player to attend some kind of program - like the equivalent of a driver awareness programme. None of us are perfect - we are all learning to hopefully be better people as we go through life.

Struggling to understand the reasons for the severity of ban. A silly comment, don't tell me we're all not guilty of such a thought at some time; If you are not, my hat comes off to you. I do understand a need for some kind of penalty- but this is really crazy.
Finish of Son's wonder goal.

If someone made the same remark in an office to you, and you didn't report it then that's on you.

A well known International professional sportsman saying on live TV " “Sonny’s or a cousin of Sonny’s? They all look the same, more or less.” shouldn't be acceptable, is racist and i really don't give a damn whether you would be "kicking off" or not.

To try and defend that as not being a racist remark or having racist connotations is immature.

"guilty of such a thought" it totally different from making a racist remark on live TV.

Maybe, but maybe not, how do we know, we're not perfect either. A sincere open apology is really all that it needs. I think your "Racist remark" is a little over-the -top. Sorry, and accuse me of being ignorant and racist as well-it is how I feel about it. I live in Germany and can live with the " British island monkey jokes``- yes that is a title often used over here. What do you think about all the bile coming out of the President of America's mouth?

Where did i accuse you of being racist?

If you can live with any racist remark aimed at you then that's on you.

What I think about Trump is for a different conversation, what I think about the remarks of one of my clubs players is what should be of concern for all of us.

It was unacceptable, has been met with a reasonably quick decision and one that i feel is too lenient.

This is unfortunate. I never said you accused me of being racist. You think it's too lenient and I think it is too harsh-no problem., life goes on.
