As a Welshman now living in Ireland I can assure you the last thing they want is England to top the table. This time last year was fantastic over here....Irish grand slam on St Patrick's Day by beating the English at Twickenham.....now hopefully it's my turn to celebrate.

So, with heavy rain forecast in Cardiff, we’re set for another roof row.

Obviously we’ve already told Ireland we want it closed so it’ll be interesting to see what the Irish do.

What I’ve learned is that, apparently, if the weather is so bad it could put the game in jeopardy (what that exactky means I don’t know- called off I guess) then 6N Chief’s can rule the roof is shut.

The weather is meant to be bad but not so bad the game gets called off so it’ll come down to Ireland.

What do the Irish boys on here say? @tototoner , you’ve got tickets ain’t you? You don’t want watch the game all wet and cold do you, mate. Maybe put a call in to Schmidt. Nice one.

Yes I am going, long week with Cheltenham also

I really don't know if I want Ireland to win as that will most likely mean England win the tournament as I cannot see Scotland getting anything at Twickenham.

Hope the game goes ahead, so closed roof fine for me.

My prediction is a nervy Wales win with their defence holding out

Ha! The celtic mentality is so totally fucked up!

I think most Irish fans want to win but they’re treating it as a win-win situation. Win, great, lose and England don’t win. Either way they’ll be happy.

One thing for sure is that Schmidt and the Irish players will be going all out to win.

It's always been my impression that when it comes to 'winning' the 6 Nations its pretty much Grand Slam or nothing. Topping the table by virtue of points difference or bonus points is a bit hollow, no one really remembers it, do they?

I'm sure you're right. It's the fans that have the screwed up mentality. I can honestly say that I support any of the home nations if they're playing a Southern Hemisphere side but I bet if ISIS had a rugby team the celts would support them against England (which seems a bit pathetic to me).

I would expect nothing different from you, Krule my friend. I fully agree about beating the English, however as an Irish man, I must back the lads in green. It will be a good game where Ireland will go for the corners with their penalties pushing for tries as they need bonus points if England, as expected, win. So, if Wales do win, the disappointment will be tempered by Wales stopping England being top. I have noticed from your posts how much you love the Irish and love living there. Can we expect you applying for Irish citizenship soon? lol

It’s funny you should say that as my dad said they got a new priest out where he lives now in West Wales and my dad wanted to meet him, not because he’s religious but coz he was told the priest was from Neath so wanted to suss him out. Anyway, he went to a service, which I think was last year when the 6N was on, and the priest was giving a speech about the rugby and the English and he started off saying how he loved his years in England and he loves the English as we’re all gods children and when he was practising in London the English were his flock but he said that he told them on one occasion (prior to the Wales v England WC game) that when it comes to rugby the Taliban could field 15 players against England and he’d be rooting for the Taliban ?

Now, he was obviously joking but I must admit that did tickle me coming from a priest.

No I shall remain Welsh my friend....but thanks to Brexit my wife and I have had to apply for an Irish driving licence before March 29th because our UK ones would not be valid if it was a 'no deal' decision.

That game could never take place..the referee would be 'blowing up' every thirty seconds

I remember our championship win in 2013. It’s grest just not as good as a GS, obviously. It’s especially good if you win and beat England at the same time.

Surely this would mean that the 6N is sold to pay tv channels which would be terrible. I'm guessing the welsh/scottish couldn't turn down that money so it's probably going to happen (just pure speculation on my part).

Having the 6N on terrestrial is key to rugby's growth in my opinion. For some it's the only rugby they watch each year.

Leavy is back for Ireland unfortunately. Hoping he might be a bit rusty but he’s a class act.

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/english-rugby-fan-attacked-racially-15966959

An English rugby fan was viciously attacked by a gang of men just hours after a big international clash between the two countries, police have said.

Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for information regarding what they describe as a “racially aggravated assault” in Llanelli , around three hours after Wales had defeated England on February 23.

It is understood the 29-year-old victim had been watching the rugby match in the town centre and then walked through Llanelli on his way home.

According to police he walked past Llanelli Magistrates’ Court and then down Bridge Street and at around 8.15pm, as he was walking near the Credit Union shop, he was allegedly attacked by a group comprising of three or four men.

Am I being thick here, when they say "racially aggrevated" are they saying it was an anti-English thing or was he just black and the fact that he was an England rugby fan is completely irrelevant?
