My mind changes by the hour.

We need full backs LCB striker DM Left foot wing forward.

and Jack Grealish. Lloris as well makes far to many questionable mistakes great keeper but wow.
Same as me. As each game goes I change my mind.

My priority order:

1. DM
2. Striker
3. Right Back
4. Left Back
5. Centre Back

1) Left back.
2) Defensive mid.
These are the big needs, after this it's a bit of a gap down to...
3) Competition young RB with potential..
4) Backup striker.
5) Center back.

GK: Lloris, Gazzanigga, Whiteman
RB: Aurier, New Signing
LB: New Signing, Davies
CB: Toby, New Signing, Sanchez, Tanganga
DM: New Signing, Dier, Skipp
CM: Winks, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Dele, Gedson
Wings: Son, Bergwijn, Lucas, Lamela
Striker: Kane, New Signing

I think this is realistic because it involves signing 5 players, 2 of which don't have to be that expensive (RB, CB) and 1 of which definitely won't be (ST). We need to spend big on a top LB and DM though. Defensively we're pathetic this year and that has to change. It's largely down to the personnel.

We're not going to win the league with this squad. But we should be able to finish top 4 with it and win a cup. From there we rebuild a bit more in summer 2021.

I don't think it's a massively complicated rebuild coming up this summer. These 5 positions are the clear priorities and anything else is a bonus. I think there will be a decision to be made on some players - Lamela, Sissoko, etc...some are definitely gone - Rose, for instance. Parrott makes the most sense to loan out to a side where he will get a lot of minutes at a high level of play.

Also hoping we get Lille's DoF, Luis Campos, in to oversee this process.

Wouldn't be considering Sanchez in these discussions - we've way bigger problems to deal with and he's been pretty good under Mourinho i reckon.

I'm honestly hoping that we finish outside of European places for one season. Levy made it very clear in the most recent THST meeting that he won't be spending absent CL money. We aren't going to qualify for the CL, so any hopes of the big spend that would be necessary for a full-scale rebuild have gone IMO.

If we were able to focus on domestic competitions only, the need for wholesale changes is lessened considerably. Playing only one match per week, the need for a fully rounded out squad that is capable of being rotated would be lessened dramatically. It'd buy us an extra two windows to carry out a gradual rebuild more in line with the club's means.

That being said IMO the list of priorities goes DM, striker, fullbacks, CB, keeper. We aren't going to be able to add five or six players of the requisite quality in a window wherein Levy won't spend, so next season we'll inevitably be leaving ourselves short again if we're in European competition.

Agree with most, but we can do away with needing a CB and LB if Dier and Sessegnon continue progressing

Fair, but at this point Sessegnon/Davies does not fill me with confidence. Sessegnon might be a loan situation tbh, I don't think he's good enough to play for us at the moment and his confidence seems easily rattled.

Threads like this make me laugh. No way we're gonna ship our 6/7 players and sign 6/7 players in one window. It's just not how we operate. Nor should we - turning around that many players in such a short amount of time will only bring more disharmony as they will all need to time to settle and intergrate.
Remember the Bale money? What was it 8 buys and mostly shit.

It is going to be painful and it is going to take time. I hope that, now the CL is gone, we don’t qualify for the EL and have time to work on the training ground and allow players to rest/rotate.

This has been coming for a long time, since at least Jan 2019. Not sure we will do it, if we’ve got the right manager for it, the right vision above him, but we will see.

For me, there’s a lot of players that just aren’t good enough anymore. We may have to go backwards to go forwards eventually, but like I said, it’s going to be painful.

For sale:

Lloris – too many mistakes, not enough ownership. Wouldn’t be surprised if he asked to leave given how close he was to Poch. Great at times, but I think we can and should upgrade.

Rose – I think he is as good as gone now.

Aurier – far too inconsistent. Can’t defend. Should have moved heaven and earth for AWB. Imagine we will go all out for Aarons.

Dier – just not good enough. Wouldn’t be too fussed if he stayed and was happy to come off the bench now and then, but don’t think he’d be interested in that. Realistically he isn’t good enough at cb or dm if we actually want to win things.

Winks – I know some on here love him, but I just don’t get it. Not athletic, not a great passer, doesn’t assist, doesn’t score, doesn’t control games. What does he do? His level is mid table in the Prem. Hopefully that isn’t ours going forward.

Lamela – can’t fault his effort and you can see it in his face that he wants it when he is out there, but the production just isn’t there. Not enough goals, not enough assists. He holds on to the ball far too long, far too often. For all his endeavour, his decision making is poor. Back to Italy for £20m?

Lucas – nobody is going to take away that night in Ajax, and he should have probably started in the CL final, but how long do we let him dine out on that for before the running down blind alleys, awful first touch and poor decision making become too much? Similar to Dier in the sense that if he is happy to be an option off the bench then it might be worth keeping him, but I don’t think he is. I just can’t help but feel he hasn’t (and won’t) become the player he could have been. A bit like Lamela.

Transfer requests?

Will Kane look at Spurs now and think, like I do, the ‘era’ is over - ultimately with nothing to show for it. He is 27 this summer and there’s no doubt he will be thinking about trophies now more than ever. Personally, I think he will go this summer. I also don’t think it would be the worst thing in the world, although I appreciate many will disagree with that. Of course I’d rather keep him, but I fear that might not be an option. We could get £100-150m for him and reinvest it in the squad (I know, I know), but I think this might become this summers big transfer story.

Dele may be another one that might be weighing up his options. I still think there’s enough time for him to come good again, but I wouldn’t be opposed to selling him if he did want to go and we got a decent amount of money for him. For me, Spurs should be looking to implement a 433 and I don’t think that formation plays to his strengths at all.

The other two are potentially Son and Ndombele, but I don’t think either will leave this summer.

Who will we bring in?

Priority should be a cdm and striker(s). Maybe both from Lille? Hopefully Max Aarons and Eze will come in, there’s been a lot of talk and the latter seems to be nailed on. I think the profile of our players will get younger, and there are definitely some players from those teams that look to be going down that could be very useful for us going forwards.

I don't expect all of this to happen this summer, rather over the next 2-3 years realistically. I just think last night might have been the last CL game we're involved in for a good few seasons.

Onwards and hopefully upwards - eventually!
I think Kane will give us one more season especially if Jose can convince him about trophies.

That is exactly what we need to do, with the right person coordinating it obviously!

Frank Arneson transformed us in one summer. Got rid of 20odd years of mediocrity, dead wood and players thinking Tottenham was somewhere to come for a bit of a laugh and easy money

Two or 3 in and out won’t cut it and we'll do very little in January so you have to wait another Summer and probably longer. That probably means another manager, new ideas. Another transition!!

Release:

Vorm, Vertonghen

Sell:

Alderweireld, Rose, Sissoko, Walker-Peters, Carter-Vickers

Listen to offers:

Lloris, Aurier

Buy:

RB- definitely the most tricky purchase of the lot. Can't see an obvious choice who is A) better than what we've got, B) would be willing to come and C) affordable. I'm not convinced by Aarons just yet.

It may just be a case of ploughing on with Aurier with either Foyth, Sissoko or Tanganga being used there. Walker-Peters isn't good enough and should go.

CB - One maybe two if we can somehow ship Toby out. My choice would be Ben Godfrey. Think Sanchez, Dier, Godfrey and Tanganga is about the best we can hope for. Jury out on Foyth.

LB - With Vertonghen being released and Sessegnon looking out of his depth we're struggling here too. Not the biggest priority but another area of concern. May not have much choice but to continue with those two should our non-European status be sealed.

DM - With Wanyama gone and Dier moving back we probably need someone here. I like Skipp but i'd ship out Sissoko too which would only leave us with 4 CMs including the unreliable Ndombele. My pick would be Zakaria but that's looking less and less realistic.

Striker - Need a backup if Kane stays and 2 strikers if he goes. I'd try to get Giroud in on a free as rotation and look to Osimhen if Kane departs.

It goes against our usual MO but We need a big turnover of players in one window. Doing it over 2-3 windows is too slow. Our squad is currently so uncompetitive and the other top 10 teams in the league will only get better imo.

There is also the need to be opportunistic in sales as well as signings. We have a number of players who we cannot replace as they have contracts that are long and/or their wages are higher than another team is likely to pay for them. There are not too many sacred cows left with this squad, few players are indispensable.

I wouldn't say Sessegnon is progressing. I think he's been utterly awful for us so far. Looks way out of his depth and plays like a rabbit in the head lights IMO

2 full backs, a DM and a back up Striker are surely a must

A new keeper and a creative player like Man U's Bruno would be great

I'd be surprised if we brought in half that however

First XI

GK: Lloris
RB: NEW
CB: NEW

CB: Alderweireld
LB: NEW

DMC: NEW

AMC: Lo Celso

AML: Son
AMC: Dele
AMR: Bergwijn

ST: Kane

I think we need a minimum of four players for our first team, three of them at the back and someone in front to protect them.

Squad Players:

GK: Gazzaniga & NEW
LB: Davies
RB: Aurier
CB's: Sanchez, Foyth, Dier & Tanganga
CM's: Winks, Ndombele, Gedson & Skipp
AM's: Lucas, Sessegnon & NEW
ST: NEW

I think many of our current players are good enough to be squad players and replacing their PL experience would be expensive.

Sell:

Lamela, Sissoko, Rose & Walker-Peters, plus Vertonghen on a free.
Fantastic post pretty much spot on.

I realise people are feeling pessimistic but this is the perfect moment to build the team around Son. Sell the deadwood + Sell Kane to United for 150~mil, plus our budget for the summer, might sound naive but that is around 250-300mil to play with. Bruno Fernandes has just gone to United for what 60m? That's at least 4-5 players of his quality that we can bring in during the summer

4-3-3

Yes we need alot of positions to refill, fullbacks, a CB, a keeper, a DM and CM, and in this scenario 2 more wingers. I like Berg so my ideal front three would be Son up top, Berg and a left footed winger

The situation isn't the best but I do think if we recruit well, people will be shocked at how quickly we will be back in the running, I think we need to go for Roca and Atal at the very least

Can I ask you all whether you think that if we rang up the owner of Sheffield United and offered to swap our squad for his he'd agree ?

I think he'd bite your hand off.

Have a think about that

I see the point of view where we should have sold Eriksen earlier to avoid the problems we had at the end with him, but I think Kane is a different situation. Kane is on a longer contract at the moment (ends 2024 I think) and has always given his best for us.. There are other players that need to be sold way before we consider selling Harry.. If Lloris goes, surely Harry will be made Captain. He can lead the new generation in to the good times. I’d say in two years, if he still wants to leave, see where we are then, but deffo not this summer.
