I don't won't to race to any conclusion about what race we might be in. I have many thoughts racing through my head after the first two matches, but it will largely be a race against the clock to keep this squad fit and match ready. I think the first couple of matches do raise a couple of concerns, but Lamela, Ndombele and Moura get my pulse racing for sure, those three are already off to the races. I'm happy with a draw against City, because slow and steady wins the race, but we must find an ability to race out of the traps in every single match, unless we want our entire season to end up as a caucus race.

Important thing this weekend was that Chelsea and United were in positions to get 3 points and dropped 2 whilst we gained 1 out of seemingly nothing. We can say it's early doors but last year was so tight it all matters.

I tend to look at fixtures in blocks to see what a good number of points over a few games would be. Looking at the first 4 games I realistically felt 7 points was what we'd be looking as a positive return. Winning our 2 homes games, getting a draw at the emirates was what I had in my head. With the newcastle game we should be able to put them away comfortably given their current situation then we head to the emirates with the potential to get 8/10 points that would be a fantastic return from these first 4.

We do have some very kind home fixtures really need to bang a few in on Sunday and get a bit of a buzz going. If we are within 5 pts come Xmas considering Chelsea would be only top 6 left to visit we’d be in great shape.

No summer World Cup also not so many injuries as last year also I can see 1 or 2 more additions in January particularly if Eriksen sold and my hope is that we won't suffer from fatigue as we seemed to last year also Liverpool and City were compared to us injury free Liverpool in particular surely can't be that lucky with injuries again this year " can they " I am optimistic for us this year COYS

Looking at the squad now and you consider the deadwood we have shipped out and if reports are true (Aurier and sadly Wanyama) a few more to go, we have a very lean squad but look at the absolute quality in each of the positions now, the quality of the depth is staggering.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39604653 - This is the game that Rose famously said about our lack of options compared to Chelsea and now you look at the quality we have on the bench, we have 22 players who offer so much to the team. We then have the likes of Skipp, Parrott on top breaking through. We have space to add real quality going forward. Obviously we have a difficult summer next summer but keeping the squad lean for now gives us the most ability to build next year regardless of what happens. I think we've built a squad that can compete on all 4 fronts this summer.

Agreed, Durham is about to ask if Alli gets into our best 11 when fit, wouldn't have even considered that 2 years ago.

Hoping for a draw in the ‘something has to give’ match.
I feel dirty hoping Arse get something from the game, but ‘Pule dropping points is better for us.

I don't think Liverpool will get as close as they did to winning the league like last season therefore a Liverpool win will do for me.

We need to hope that City drop points, as unlikely as it is.

As long as it doesn't become an issue of race then we're good
