My boxing mates are telling me Fury Chisora will be at the Lane. Can't hurt any talks
Yep, just seen Fury post that it's happening and at our place.
Another big event, if maybe only really in the UK, that will bring more attention to our stadium.

There was a Google Cloud developer day being hosted at the stadium yesterday. Not sure if Google chose the venue or the company sponsoring it chose the venue, but if it was Google then that makes it very interesting given that they have their own office based venues to use and access to facilities at Wembley as part of their box there. Or maybe just a coincidence....

Interesting times for Google and others with Elon Musk trying his best to destroy Twitter. Google tried to enter the social media space once before and if they're ever going to try again, the window of opportunity is opening...

You just know we'll get a stadium sponsor before Jan and people will expect a spending spree when the window opens.
They probably delay it to after the transfer window so that we don't have to spend any money?.......joke before the BSODL get annoyed?

some terrible rags reporting Apple interested in buying Man Utd. Made me think a) interesting they want the club over just the stadium rights and b) that makes sense as big tech firms are starting to diversify. Given the posts about AWS and GCP i wondered if Apple would be a fit for us (stadium, not owner).
could rename the Goalline bar the Genius Bar, and call the U21's the iSpurs and the 1st VII the iSpurs Pro

Apple as a company would buy United? Not sure this makes any sense at all.

And if they did they'd be looking to take money out of the club every year as profits.

The worst case scenario (for all of football) is that the Saudi's, through 'third party' investment vehicles end up owning Newcastle, Man U and Liverpool, and along with the UAE owned Man City will dominate the top 4 for years to come.

It's inevitable isn't it?

The rise of the PL has created some extremely valuable clubs and when they go on the market you're looking at very few people/countries/investment companies that can afford them. And looking at the price these clubs are going to go for they are likely to be vanity/sports washing projects anyway as they will be expensive for the money they make.

Gary Neville says the Glazers need to involve the fans in any sale.
Many a Spurs fan say ENIC needs to involve fans on the board.
Alas with the money involved, and potential state ownership, this will not happen.
It's no longer a game of the people at Premiership level - clubs are mere trinkets.
There will always be fans for too many people follow success but the passionate fans will I believe fall out of love with a sterile game ruled by money.
Eventually the success of the premiership will bring about it's own demise.

The current middle eastern owners are purely there for vanity and sports washing - they are not even slightly interested in profit.

There is a reason USA owners trying to sell - it's becoming too expensive to keep these clubs going and make a sizeable profit.- They don't want yo break even

The other annoying thing is that the owners of ManC & Newcastle can dramatically spend to improve infrastructure of their clubs withour affecting FFP and without batting an eye lid (stadium, training ground, etc) and without impacting their player expenditure (transfers and wages) - we have to use the money for repayment for the stadium and then transfers/wages

It's not a level playing field

There is also a reason why US owners want to buying clubs. The Glazers took £1.1 B our of Man United. FSG bought Liverpool for £300M and are selling for £4B. All about profit for the US, but I agree the oil states are not focused at all on profit - just winning.

Also of note Saudi Arabia have a sizeable stake in Chelsea I believe - backing the current owners substantially

No actual news, but interesting that Google who were reported to be in talks for the naming rights have supposedly bought the rights for NFL Sunday Ticket for YouTube.

Wonder if that might be an interesting combination for them, sponsoring a stadium where the games may be played

We’ve all seen some awful commercial stadium names but this one had me wheezing

From the Twitter comments - “And if you don’t like it, Toughsheet.”

Got asked on another forum what was happening with the naming. Came on here to see. Two posts this calendar year - both about Bolton. Says it all really 😀
