LETS GOOOOOOO!!!! WE’RE BACK! Gerrit Cole is a Yankee!

Fantastic signing for the Yankees. Crazy money, but well worth it for one of, if not the best, pitchers in baseball. His fastball is insane!

However, this contract along with the Strasburg contract makes the Wheeler deal to the Phils look pretty good. If Wheeler stays healthy, and pitches at his floor, than it will be a steal.

The Astros have been hammered and sounds like Alex Cora will be as well.

As a Sox fan.....just banish Cora to the phantom zone already.

The only reason he hasn't been punished is because they are investigating his old school sign stealing that he was doing with us.

He's guilty, everyone knows it, just ban him.

He created the whole scheme with both the red sox and astros. Gotta be a much heavier ban. I think a more than fair trade would be banning Cora from baseball while reinstating Pete Rose. I mean, Hinch’s and Lunhow’s bans are defacto permanant bans. Just make Cora’s official

Rose and Shoeless Joe for Cora, Hinch and Lunhow i think is a fair trade.

There you go....Sox axed him before the punishment has been officially dropped.

Got in ahead of it. He had to go. Beltran’s position with the Mets might be on thin ice too over this, i’d imagine

Like i said yesterday. Once the Astros stuff came down it just made sense to fire him. You know he is going to get caught up in it and is going to get punished for doing it with a second team.

Made no sense for the Sox to even wait at that point. Fire him and move on.

If there is anything we’ve learned over the last 6 months, it’s that cheating is very much okay in baseball. Manfred’s an idiot

To Yankspurs point, the acceptance of Sosa/Maguire charades, juiced balls and now the acceptance of cheating, well, it isn't the sport that it used to be.

1981 started it but 1994 finished it off. Went from diehard fan to a part time fan/player to a very part time fan. Grew up in the era where we had to be able to articulate the infield rule, knows what happens if a player tags a runner out only to have the ball lodge in the player's pocket (from the classic "Knotty problems of baseball"), and was taught how to bunt properly. confession - i still enjoy "small ball" as it as similar to Association Football/soccer (football for you diehards) in terms of strategy as it gets.

Now, the only time i watch when my team is in the playoffs. Of all the sports (in the States), baseball was the one that seemed above it all. Sadly, it may be the worst off

Id wager every team was stealing signs with cameras before the rule was explicitly changed last spring.

The absurdity of the last month with this sport will wind up killing it. The 2 sides cannot work together, the mistrust is palpable and there is way too much bad blood. Good thing we are coming up on the CBA after next season:rolleyes:

There will be a strike in 2022 unless Clark and/or Manfred are replaced. The last CBA was horrendous for the players so they will be asking the world. And after Manfred tried his damnest this pandemic(and got his wish by implementing the season to only give the players 1/3 of the full salary’s), theres little chance there is baseball in 2022 as the players wont budge. Good stuff, guys! Idiots.

Well it was fun for about a minute but we all knew it was inevitable with no bubble and teams traveling around the country. This season has to be cancelled. No other choice. At least 14 Marlins have tested positive. The Marlins/Orioles series has to be cancelled now. As will the Yankees/Phillies series. The end result is going to be the season. Just get it over with.

You were saying exactly the same about Football just 6 weeks ago. That wasn't very prophetic.

Baseball will find a way to make things work, just like Football and most other sports already have.

I think the difference is that USA is a shitshow. How can teams travel around and not avoid getting this virus when we have too many assholes not wearing masks, not distancing properly, and many places still keeping their bars/restaurants open. Maybe this will wake up these places to make changes. We'll see.

Great example of this being....the Marlins....3 players tested positive, they held a team meeting to take a vote on if they should play the game, decided they should play the game, played the game.....THEN they told the Phils and the league. Then tests of 14 more players came back positive.

They didn't even give the players on the Phils a say into if they were comfortable with the game being played. Just decided to play.
