Do you really think he wanted to get rid of Tripps without bringing anyone else in? Or Dembele without having someone signed up already? We had a threadbare squad last year, no manager would want that.

Pretty much, yes. He has been outspoken on the concept of having more players than he can play, and about reducing the squad size. With that said, he had Aurier and KWP at RB, and spoke about using Foyth there, and I think that was so he could integrate him, not because he didn't have other options.

It's hard to accept because it's counter-intuitive to what we think (as fans), but you can't be apologetic and blame anyone but Poch for those things.

While Zidane has had a dodgy return, Real are unbeaten in La Liga and currently top of the table. No chance he gets sacked yet.

Yeah for the first time in a while their goal is to win La Liga, they're not too bothered about the CL this season, if they get left behind Barca or Atletico then he'll be sacked.

The core problem was the system itself was limited without more creativity.
Add to that the buying that was based on who we can sell and how much we could recoup. We sold little and sold Trippier when we were light in the position.
There was a comprehensive lack of focus about what we really needed. Poch could have put his job on the line if he was confident enough to find what we really needed. So we ended up buying who we could get.
It was weakness all around. From Levy who was thinking long term only and Poch who couldn't control anything, not the players or the buys with Levy.
We are still not in bad shape but still we have no focus. Which is bad.

JJ suggesting on Twitter that Poch will be supported this season.

Pairing this with his post in the Transfer Wishlist thread, I'm guessing he will be supported with spending money to rebuild the squad and being given the necessary time.
Let’s just hope January yields a DM, RB, at least one CB, possibly a LB, an Eriksen replacement

We should be finishing 3rd or 4th though. We aren't over achieving by doing that.

And I do not see getting to the semi final of the FA Cup as an achievement. I do not care 1 bit of we get to the semi final. I couldn't tell you what teams lost in the FA cup semi final last season. We need to get out of the mindset that we are achieving things when we have absolutely fuck all to show for it
This.

Why would a FA Cup semi final be good TBH? Always the fucking bridesmaid, can we just win a damn cup. That's then it's a good season, at least.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is planning to sell English midfielder Eric Dier, 25, 27-year-old Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, Ivorian defender Serge Aurier, 26, Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama, 28, and 29-year-old English defender Danny Rose in January after his side's poor start to the season. (Times - subscription required)

That just leaves Alderweireld and Vertonghen...

Won't happen.

Levy is incapable of that.

Reducing squad size is one thing but replacing them is another. I know he has mentioned about squad size and players being able to play in various positions but he also didnt ask to leave the squad as it is... it is stale and has been stale for a while.

Im certainly not an apologist and like I mentioned I am annoyed with his antics at times but im also conscious that with a good squad he has done well and maybe its hope more than expectation but think he can do well again.
