I'm born and bred North Londoner, I've taken shit off of gooners for all my life, in particular their sucesssful 20 odd years & until the last 5 years I didn't have much to give them stick for. So I fucking loved giving those ****'s shit for the last 3-4 seasons. Get our own house in order and forget about them? What's that all about? football is about the buzz of the game & the bantz and piss take that goes with it. Sad if you don't feel the same tbh
I get that, for sure. It sounds really petty but the thing that really stings about the Bayern game is that we can’t hold the Scum’s capitulation to them over their heads anymore.

I mean, forget the sheer horror of the occasion, that’s my takeaway? But I can’t help myself.

I hate all this bants because it always bites us in the fucking arse!

Unless you are going to win everything, every year, for the rest of the time, making fun of other teams when they are doing worse than you or have a shit result is always going to come back and bite you.

JJ suggesting on Twitter that Poch will be supported this season.

Pairing this with his post in the Transfer Wishlist thread, I'm guessing he will be supported with spending money to rebuild the squad and being given the necessary time.

On the one hand it's encouraging that the board are giving Poch time to turn things around. On the other hand, I worry that this re-build is going to take an inordinate amount of time. It's going to be a slow and laborious process. Replacing out of contract, ageing and injury prone players will take 2 or 3 windows, and then you have to factor in other players (Kane, Son etc.) becoming restless in the meantime. We're not renowned as a club for being decisive in the transfer market and we tend to go for younger players so I imagine any replacements for outgoing players will take time to bed in.

I'm not in the Poch out camp - far from it - but if Levy is sticking with him I think we need to get used to the idea that the team will under-perform for a while. How will that go down with the masses? Considering we have a new stadium with the most expensive ticket prices in the world how long will supporters put up with lack-lustre results/ performances? A string of bad results will lead to general disillusionment, grumblings from the crowd during home matches and eventually possibly some fans staying away. A toxic atmosphere is hardly going to help the team.

IMO this is quite a worrying and destabilising situation and it's probably going to get worse before it gets better.

I think you’ve struck the nail quite squarely on the flat bit there, Dax, if the noises coming from ITK are accurate.

I’m just aching for us to not flail around on the pitch like fish out of water. I don’t mind a less-successful season per se as long as it’s not from want of trying.

That’s why the likes of Sissoko, Son, Lamela, Moura and Kane are key for me: whatever else they never stop trying (Kane’s performance at Brighton notwithstanding).

If he's going to be backed in the January window, then we have to - or hopefully already have, some solid irons in the fire.

There will have to be some pretty substantial movement in and out, extremely quickly and this will pass the baton right back into Levy's lap.

Whatever happens it'll be our watershed moment, either Poch will walk without those funds being spent, or we actually start spending. Otherwise they'll both be all out of excuses.

I hope his faith is justified.

It could be an interesting moment in the history of player power, we could be the team that shows the players they're not the ones who decide and they better get in line. teams tend to universally side with the players and the cycle continues and we're going against the grain here.

We should be finishing 3rd or 4th though. We aren't over achieving by doing that.

And I do not see getting to the semi final of the FA Cup as an achievement. I do not care 1 bit of we get to the semi final. I couldn't tell you what teams lost in the FA cup semi final last season. We need to get out of the mindset that we are achieving things when we have absolutely fuck all to show for it
Since you raise it, where did you get your 'mindset' from?

It would be the 2nd time for us in recent history where Levy backed Poch over the malcontents in 2014.

Listening to the Spurs Show this morning they were saying the ITK is that the senior players are fed up with the regime, including Harry Kane, and didn't like Poch's behaviour around the CL final, AND that Poch himself is wanting a way out. Depressing. But I'm wondering how anyone can really get reliable info on what Poch is wanting? Unless he's put it out there himself maybe.

The Spurs Show love playing ITK.

I can’t think of the last time they were right about anything though. Especially that main presenter.

It's all well and good saying he will be backed in January, but surely there has to be some upturn in form too? Say hypothetically we lost every game between now and then, you're hardly gonna give him a wad of cash to spend, would he even still be knocking around were that the case?

If we do back Poch, and if he does turn things round, which we would ALL love to see, I'm not looking forward to the endless chirping from certain posters about how they were right all along. This place will be full of shit about how we should have never doubted Poch and how we're not 'proper' fans because we dared question our beloved manager.

Ffs, if you never ask questions, you never learn anything.

Did you just make yourself angry about a hypothetical situation in your own head?

People can talk about backing Poch all they want but if we have many more games like Brighton, there is no way Poch lasts until January.

it is absolutely imperative Poch starts winning games. I don’t believe Levys backing is unconditional like some are making out. For a manager that so openly talks about leaving the club, for Levy to fully back Poch would be a bit misguided. Even the most ardent Poch fans can’t say Poch has acted like he is fully committed to the club in recent months.

I've seen that table and still can't figure out what the hell it is on about.

- The numbers in the first column aren't in order, and are repeated
- The teams aren't in alphabetic order
- The Gross Purchased isn't in order
- The 'Sold' isn't in order
- The 'Nett' isn't in order
- The spend-per-season isn't in order

It looks like a spreadsheet someone would make when they don't know what they're doing.

As per other posts (maybe this thread, can't remember), it shows our net spend is higher than Liverpool, and if you include Lo Celso, it's looking higher than Chelsea's.

What's horrifying is how much Brighton and Everton have spent, with not a lot to show for it
