The season Poch took over we finished behind Everton in sixth place in the league so we aren't the only top six team in that time not to win a trophy.

It's all well and good saying that we should have won a trophy, but no-one would have expected us to win the league in that time. No one would have expected us to win the champions league either so it really comes down to the FA Cup and League Cup. I can't think of too many occasions when we've gone out of a cup to a team that we were expected to beat. Most of our defeats have been to fellow top four sides where the difference between success and failure can often be down to luck, injuries & refereeing decisions as much as tactics, motivation and coaching. If we'd spent the money that City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool had over the last five years I could understand the frustration at not winning anything, but Poch has been fighting with one hand tied behind his back for the last five years due to the stadium build.

All valid points. We've come a long way but I also feel now is the time for trophies and no more talk of transition or projects. We don't win something soon and Kane will walk and is going to be horrible

You think their fullbacks are worth 20 points difference in the table? I'm not so sure. I agree they have top FBs, but for me the biggest difference is in the manager's. Unfortunately Klopp is doing the type of job some of us thought Poch would do at Spurs but it never materialised.
The had 23 assists combined(LB,RB) last season in premier league only.

This. Klopps squad is good but it's still got areas that could be improved. The difference between them and us comes mostly down to mentality, desire and the fact they all know their roles inside out. They play the same way week in week out, to
a point that everything they do is second nature.
Well we could have signed/afford the likes of Salah, Mane, Wihnaldum, Firmino e.t.c but we didn"t and rather went for the better versions like n'jie, N'koudou, jansen, Llorente e.t.c And still not as good as them. i blame poch for that.

Yes Klopp has effectively adapted their tactics to make the most of his FBs ability on the ball. It’s a strategy he has set and it is paying off big time.

It’s our managers responsibility to make a strategy that gets the best out of the great talent we have in our squad. What is our style of play by the way? Do we even have an identity? A strategy? There hasn’t been one apparent since the beginning of last season in my opinion.

We do not have great talent in Fb position at all. When we had we did that (Walker and prime rose)

Do you think Lpool will be effective with Fb options of Serge, KWP, Rose(declined) and ben davies?

No way. I don't understand this viewpoint. This isn't 2010, we aren't plucky underdogs anymore. Yes our netspend has remained pitiful but that's also down to historically good recruitment (not in the last 3 or 4 years necessarily but before that). Also, we have broken our transfer record three times in the last 2 years.

Things change quickly in football and we are far and away the third best squad in the league. It's not even up for debate. Did you see the sides Arsenal and United put out last night? Dreadful. If you think top 4 is punching above our weight, you are still stuck in yesteryear and it says far more about your ridiculously low expectations than it does about my current expectations based on the quality of the league and comparative squad strengths of our rivals.

At full back and central midfield I would say it very much is up for debate.

Now as in this season? Because we're not going to win the League, I doubt we'll win the Champions League and we're out of the League Cup. So it's the FA Cup or nothing this season really.
Hopefully we'll see more regular investment in the team now that we're in the new stadium and reaping the financial benefits that that brings. If we can bring in a quality player or two every season that could mean the end of the transitional phases that we've become used to.

Think there is revisionism, but not from the majority, but the very tiny minority you seem to be in.
For the first 75 minutes of the game, we had 2 shots, both from long range, and zero shots on target and basically only got out of our half on about 4 occasions, we spent that whole time passing between our full backs, centre backs and Winks in midfield. We created nothing of note whatsoever.
It was only in the last 15 minutes after we brought Llorente, Moura and Dier on for Alli, Sissoko and Winks and looked at passing the ball forwards that we started to look threatening and maybe even started to deserve to get something out of game at that stage, but for 75 minutes there was only one team that was in total control of that match.

:ROFLMAO: As I just said, classic revisionism.

We began to play through their press after 20 mins or so Dele (x4), Eriksen, Sissoko, Trippier were all guilty of misplacing their final balls, this was pretty much the pattern of the match, Son had 2 1on1's with Van Dijk...These chances aren't recorded in stats.

So to say that Liverpool controlled the match superbly is nonsense, we broke their press on a number of occasions and better decision making would have seen us score, as I said all they did was soak and play on the counter and it's not as if the chances they were creating were measured chances - they were speculative.

I suggest you watch the match again: http://fullmatchsports.com/tottenham-hotspur-vs-liverpool-highlights-full-match-ucl-final-2019

Coz I’ve lumped on serious ££.
It’s make or break whether this comes in.

Or? Maybe it was said and I thought it worth sharing. Didn’t realise it was going to upset the resident bed-wetters.
I've got to say, whether bullshit or not, thanks for posting your info. Although you really do need to verify it via the mods to prevent being called a wum, unless you want to declare your source publicly.

This is a Spurs discussion forum, so discussing rumours is kinda the norm - shit, we have a special forum for it twice a year!

But we've had plenty of wind-up merchants appear over the years, spouting all sorts of bullshit, so people can be (understandably) critical of any unverified itk.
Fool me once...etc.

I think if we haven't won anything by the end of next season Kane will walk. We need to bring in players that make an immediate difference, it's how Utd, Arsenal etc in their prime really moved up a gear.

Couple of anomaly’s appear present here Robert. Through fear of upsetting the self proclaimed “Boss”.

1. I didn’t make anything up.
2. I have no agenda.

In relation to going “through the usual procedures”, could you remind a half-wit of what these may be? I did search for the SC forum ‘user-manual’, but couldn’t locate the document in big print.

Thanking you well in advance.
Ah, see, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt but then read on, and you go and do this.

I think you might be right. We can't expect him to stay here forever if we're not winning anything.

Ndombele and Lo Celso could be those type of players. Sessegnon too possibly. Once they get up to Poch fitness levels that is.

What disappointed me most was that the team never appeared to be motivated or up for the CL final which was strange considering for some including the club it would be a one off, yes Liverpool were not great but they didn't need to be once they got in front they knew we couldn't break them down.
As for the conditions that's bollocks because the final is played in Europe every year where the temperature is usually on the warm side around that time, if we had played it in the artic circle then we would have had the it's too cold excuse thrown in.
We just didn't turn up and give a good account of ourselves apart from a little flurry late on that would not have worried a girls under 15 team, but I suppose the main thing is we got there and can rank it as an achievement in itself.

With his comments over the last week among which were. " Spurs players are a disgrace for fronting up the ref in matches"
"Poch has lost the Dressing room " and " this club is in disarray " I am paraphrasing mr Charlie Nicholas .
Why in the world would he say such things that are not based on any known fact but just gossip and rumour.
It could not be that he wants these things to be true could it after all he is renowned for his insight and well thought out punditry .
All this rubbish about our club is becoming very boring and tiresome .
You could avoid the rubbish by not going on social media but now it seems that main stream outlets are jumping on the bandwagon and so the only way to avoid the made up rumours is to just watch or go to matches and avoid social media and TV pundit EXPERTS.

Disagree with the lot of this.

Don't think it's too controversial to say that if we don't spunk Bayern tonight 5-0, follow it up with 10 game winning streak while using Uncle Joe's billions to short Arsenal football club out of existence then Poch's had a bit of shocker and should not only consider his position but also his basic moral fibre. :cautious:
