Cant remember off hand but there were quite a few who dismissed it out of hand.
It was in the thread that Dougal locked...think it was called 'Beginning of the end', the fella who started it looks like a visionary now lol.

Such a shame, i tried to bump it last night when the meltdown started, but it wasn't meant to be - LOCKED! :(

Gradually building to catch Liverpool & City, obviously. I said we won't win the League this year. It's not very confusing. If winning the League Cup and finishing 10th every year floats your boat, good luck to you. I strongly disagree. I would rather have nights like the Ajax semi final every year rather than beating the likes of Birmingham on the road to Wembley. I bet you cannot name the last 3 winners of the Carabao Cup without Googling it. You know why? Because no one gives a fuck.

Gradually building to catch City and Liverpool mate. Are you joking ? We are so far behind those 2 it’s a joke. Don’t get me wrong, every other side are behind them to by miles, but we have fallen so far back it’s transparent. We are not catching City or Liverpool anywhere in the future. Our greatest opportunity ever of winning that league was the Leicester season and we totally blew it. Our greatest ever opportunity of winning the huge one was last year and we totally blew it. Right now, we are at that stage where an Fa cup or a league cup would do the club wonders. It would build success and propel us to then achieve more each season. That’s how you progress, not 6/7 years of constant false dawns and getting to semi finals/finals, but losing them all the time. Complete and utter losers mentality you got mate, but like our club really and it’s infested with failure.

Just to clarify for you all... if Poche were to leave, by push or jump, its not just him that we lose. The entire coaching staff, physios, and players who are intrinsically linked to him leave as well. That means Hugo and Lamela at the very least. Ndombele and Celso were both convinced to join by him as well.

We fans either don't appreciate or won't admit how much Poche is this club in its current era. Losing him will result in a wholesale change of everything. As opposed to just sorting out a few players and stabilising the current form.

Repeating myself, but reset your expectations of the club this season. Accept that we ain't winning anything this season. The times for this squad to win stuff is gone now. It should have won at least one title and the CL final. Man City and Liverpool have made title challenges redundant for anyone else in the league for at least a couple more years.

I'll take a 6th place finish and Poch rebuilding his squad if it means that we're ready to challenge seriously again next year or after. It's a lot less disruptive than the alternative would be.

Pretty much where I'm at.

It seems like all the relative success of the past five years has brought are 1) greater demands 2) higher expectations 3) less patience from our fans.
1 and 2 are the same thing, and remember this all kicked off from being knocked out of the cup by L2 opposition, high expectations have nothing to do with it, any PL club should be dispatching L2 opposition aside with their reserve teams.

This is now Poch's 6th season with us, and we appear to be going backwards... as a fanbase we can be accused of many things, lack of patience isn't one of them im afraid.

Is that so? So I take it you don't remember the Crouchy goal at City when we qualified for the CL for the first time? Or the joy when we finally finished above Arsenal after 25+ years?

I can't name our last 10 league finishes. I can name our league finishes under Poch though, which is the gradual project I'm talking about.

Trophies are vital. But they have to supplement league positions. Not replace them. Not many would be happy with us finishing 10th and winning the poxy League Cup every year. I would be prepared to bet you on that with a poll.

I can't remember our last 10 leagues finishes either

But I can sure remember which year we won the league..FA cup League Cup UEFA cup

Are you sure about that bit. There's 940 pages in this thread and I would hazard a guess at least 850 were from before last nights debacle.

What the talk of him being replaced? It started a few weeks ago but has snowballed since last night.
This would all be going in the 'beginning of the end' thread if it hadn't been locked.

Not sure if you guys get Grumpy Pundits in UK but Graham Roberts was just on and Rodney Marsh put to him Poch will be gone at the end of the season, Roberts basically said no way, Poch loves the club, he was saying along the lines he believes club will do things different in coming windows so a lot rosier perspective than on here, time will tell I guess... Personally hope Poch stays, I'm far from he should go camp, he's done a amazing for us under the constraints. I think we have a few too many prima donnas and too much deadwood that is currently hurting us more than anything, that summer of inactivity has really hurt us and now we're playing catch up.

That may be true, but if Poch did leave, unless they followed him to Madrid, they wouldn't be coached by him anyway so I wouldn't expect a mass exodus.

Not sure I follow you, why would it be locked?
Well in your first post you said it was the reason the "Beginning of the end" thread was locked for similar posts.
So I thought the same may happen with this one.

It's not about whether he loves the club or not but rather can he still do his job for the club which on recent evidence including last season's poor form is going against him.
I think everyone wants it to turn around quickly but I think it's looking a lost cause with player's lacking confidences game by game, we will have not see what happens whether the club sticks or twists but we have all been here before and I think the writing is on the wall.

Again, I didn't say that. I said players who are intrinsically linked to him. To my knowledge only Hugo has explicitly said that his future is committed to Pochettino.... and its supposition on my part that Lamela is likely the same after the commitment that Poche has shown to him.

My point is about the infrastructure... coaching, physiology, techniques, timetables, dietitians... etc etc etc. The Brave New World book lays out how much this club operates, in terms of supporting the squad, is all established by Pochettino and Perez.

Rather than rejig the team, we'd be completely starting from scratch. Again.

Which is fine, if that's what happens. Just adjust your expectations to suit.

It did. Even if we didn't have the money for a couple of major purchases, because of the stadium, im sure we could have made one big purchase in those 2 windows we didn't buy anyone.
