But we did lose limply to Newcastle AND conspire to throw away another advantage against Leicester - no point looking at ifs, buts and maybes of VAR, that's exactly what transpired!

Again, i'm not seeing from rational posters a "Poch must be sacked" mantra so by denigrating people are are genuinely concerned that Poch might well be unable to revive this squad adequately I think is pretty fucking galling.

Yes we did lose limply to Newcastle but the Palace match was a great reaction to that and yesterday the performance was good but we were unlucky to lose narrowly. We were never gonna simply rollover Leicester - they’re a good team. However the fight we put in and the chances we created left me feeling like we’ve got enough to be top 4 this season. It’s a ridiculous overreaction fans talking about us not making the champions league next season.

Because also we are Tottenham. Why will we definitely become like them?

If following this route yield us the same future, does that mean keeping Poch for another 3 years will definitely win us the league like SAF did?

I'm always very intrigued we are often compared to other clubs for the negative reasons, but never the positive possibility that may happen. Chelscum won the league twice with Mourinho, was he really that lucky? So why are we not facing up to the prospect of winning the league if we got him?

Not saying there is a very very strong camp here to boot him out at this moment, as most are just saying his time is probably getting more limited with the ongoing performance. But why the future is always bleak when faced with the topic of Poch out? Not facing the possibility of a brighter future after Poch is no much better than those who are deemed shameful for suggesting a new future after Poch IMHO.

I think it's more to do with Jose who feels like a short term solution rather than us as a club, if he joins Madrid I'd feel the same way, I believe he's a microwave manager who will do well in the short term. Specifically with us I don't think he'd win the league with us as I think his squads at Chelsea were better and wasn't facing the magnitude of competition.

If Poch was to leave, as I've made clear I don't want that but it'd be foolish to rule it out then I'd prefer a manager who feels a bit more long term with good footballing principles such as the Ajax manager or even Farke from Norwich but with that yields the dreaded transition which I know the majority loathe and want to win something now. The only three from the proven winners category that excite me would be Klopp, Pep who we are clearly not getting or Simeone who stylistically is a bit different from the managers I mentioned but I do like him. I wouldn't want to go down the Jose/Ancelotti type route.

Next 3 league games are so crucial.

3 big performances needed otherwise I think it might be time for change.

9 points obviously key, but I’d also like to see some resemblance of a positive mentality too, whether that’s an energetic press or showing some bottle by coming from behind. Just something to give hope that Poch and the players are still pushing in the same direction.

I reckon in the next couple of weeks we will see it change slightly because Dele will be fit. We're missing Lo Celso who I imagine was key to the shift as he has a very unique style but Lamela has done an amicable job in stepping up for him.

I reckon we'll see

Winks Ndombele
Lamela Dele
Kane Son

At least until Lo Celso is fit.
Yep, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see a 4222 appear but it can leave you vulnerable without a shielding midfielder. You also need mobile fullbacks because while you can split the CAM/ Forward pairings so the left or right side can be covered by them, it can isolate them or make it easier for teams to set a deep defensive block. Lamela/Dele/ Lo Celso /Eriksen aren’t natural wide players so relying on them to cover those areas all the time reduces their impact. Sessegnon’s mobility will work really well in this formation, but not sure about the right side

I think personally if Poch had taken us to CL glory he’d have walked. It was the culmination of the 5 year plan he always spoke about. In those 5 years we’ve become a consistent top 4 team and moved into one of the worlds best stadiums. It almost feels like he’s starting again now and maybe he just doesn’t fancy it? Somethings clearly not right wether its a long or short term thing that can be fixed nobody really knows but results over the last few months suggest its more of a problem than we think.

Leicester are a good team. It was an even match. Son doesn’t get judged off side and we win the game. Very fine margins. Fans need to separate the performance from the result. Our tempo was good, we fought for every ball and created chances. I would be much more concerned if we lost limply like at home to Geordies.

I guess i’m expecting too much for level headedness from our fan base. Instead everyone would rather buy in to the hysteria with every point dropped. It was the same last season and we still made top 4. Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal have hardly looked like they are going to be consistent enough to put a run together so i’m really not sure where fans think the top 4 threat is coming from.

With respect, whilst the tone of some of the dissatisfaction may be over the top on social media, many here are - in my mind, justifiably concerned at what they are seeing at the moment. Noone is truly foolish enough to think we were going to smash LCFC and many would have considered a point away from home a decent result - heck even a battling defeat may have been ok. It is the recognition that this result and in particular the manner in which we threw away the points is something that appears to be the norm rather than the exception at the moment. This isn't a little blip in the road. Indeed, some were giddy after the Palace result but I sense much of this was in the hope that the tide had changed...two Olympiacos and LCFC goals have sapped much of that optimism.

A club of our size and ambition should not have won its last away game in January or last recorded back to back wins in April. It should not have the worst record of dropping points from leading positions. It should not be porous at the back and most of all, lacking any discernable style or conviction.

That final will hurt him so much that it will affect him and us if he stays

Yeah admittedly Ndombele is causing a bit of a conundrum in that 4222 situation because he's not outperforming Winks to the point where you'd want him next to the shield style player. I think Aurier has the mobility, he's surprising me to be honest. I think Rose has lost it personally, I'd rather go with a youth player getting to grips with the system than continue with Rose.

The players I mentioned can work in a relative 4-2-3-1 system but I feel like Son has been doing well centrally. As you say Dele/Lamela aren't natural wide players but I wonder if defensively they can be and then come central as the fullbacks overlap with Kane in the hole and Son infront. Which you could argue was how we scored our goal and even the second one.

I think some of the comments in here would be very different if the second goal wasn’t chalked off. Some of our attacking play in the first half was lovely but there’s no excusing our form this calendar year.

Poch’s only saving grace has been that United, Chelsea and Arsenal have been just as shit and inconsistent.

That won’t last for much longer though and the moment we start looking like we’ll be cut adrift I think Mourinho will be brought in.

Levy will kick Poch out very swiftly if we look like losing out on CL money next season, there’s not only the stadium to think about but replacing Toby, Jan, Eriksen and probably Rose just for starters, we desperately need that cash and pull for new players.

I don't think it's a ridiculous reaction at all , if you base it on the last 4 months of last season, plus what is going on this. There are 2 places up for grabs and , in addition to the usual 4, it looks clear that there will be teams( probably Leicester and West Ham) who will also be in the running and not adrift as per last few seasons. It is too early to make any predictions as to who will fill those spaces but you would have to have major doubts about us at the moment.

What if the players ( excemption Eriksen) are not being offered new contracts, Tripps,Toby ,Wanyama, Rose even Jan...Poch seems to want to rebuild, stop believing all the media crap, the club want these guys out to rebuild again, its not them not signing.

Agree with this, Pochettino wants a rebuild as he has basically said many times. The problem is almost all of the players he wanted gone are still here and that can’t be good for team morale.
I can see it being a of a rough few years as we seem incapable of shifting who Pochettino wants to shift.

Yeah we were 20 minutes away from a complete different mood in here than what it is now. Even after their equaliser we should have probably scored. After the Newcastle defeat I was furious but yesterday was just one of those games where shit happens (against a side where I expected a difficult match). That’s not to say the slump in form is frustrating and concerning but the game exists on fine margins and we’re just on the wrong side of that at that moment. A lot of stuff to address - especially the amount of chances we are conceding but palace and yesterday Poch got some sort of performance out of the players so... now I guess it is about results which will determine poch’s future.

You’re welcome to have doubts but personally I think the team have showed enough yesterday to give me faith we’ll have a decent season. Leicester and West Ham don’t have the squads to maintain the consistency needed to unsurp our top 4 spot.

I think the single biggest factor in our 2019 form is our dependence on Christian Eriksen. For years we all agreed that our performances depended entirely on Eriksen's play. When he was great, we were great. When he was shit, we were shit. Well he's been shit for over a year now, so it should come as little surprise that the same is true of the team as a whole.

I don't say that to let Poch off the hook -- because it's been an obvious flaw for years, we've completely failed to develop a successful system that isn't dependent on Eriksen, and Liverpool are showing that you don't need to be reliant on mercurial No. 10s to be a top side -- but I do think it's the number one factor in our poor form. To be fair to Poch he had been calling out for a second playmaker for years and it took until this summer for him to finally get his man, who was then promptly chopped down in a South American friendly after playing 45 minutes worth of football at the club.

I really hope we can hang on until Lo Celso can get fit and up to speed, or alternatively that Eriksen will pull his finger out (if even for his own sake of catching the eye of the suitors he's hoping will make an approach for him). If we continue on in current form there may genuinely be a question as to whether Poch will get the time he needs to transition us to life post-Eriksen. Fortunately the other clubs vying for third and fourth place are deeply flawed themselves, so I remain hopeful that we'll be hanging within reach of CL places long enough that Poch will be given the time he needs to implement the changes that started with this summer window.

I was really down in the dumps yesterday, but United’s loss today and with Chelsea & Arsenal currently trailing, my day has somehow brighten up. ?
