That’s a fair point but I can never understand a player not taking pride in his own performance and commitment levels first and foremost, irrelevant of what he thinks of his manager.

It’s inidicative of the type of player we have at the club and gives the biggest clue as to why we haven’t won anything. Top players perform despite off field issues. Our lot seem to almost revel in any sort of turbulence off the pitch, it gives them an excuse as to why they can’t hold on to leads/see games over the line etc
Careful, you're getting awfully close the the mental fortitude aspect of the game, which some folk don't like accepting seems to be a factor in this team, good or bad.

From reading through this thread it would not surprice me if Poch only has 3 games to turn things around.

Will it be ok not to have CL football next season?
I certainly think getting Europa League will really cause us problems if that happens. I don't see us finishing top four. But I guess it's still early in the season. Luckily for us, with exception of City and Pool, everyone else looks just as shaky. I just feel Poch has run out of answers.

The season may only be 6 games in but big decisions will need to be taken whilst its still possible to turn things around.

I hope Poch does it but right now the only thing im seeing is a continuation of the rot and that is not a good sign....

That’ll set us back significantly. The revenue, the attraction for future players, the global exposure, the subsequent sponsorship deals, the hardwiring of the club as an elite entity, the avoidance of playing in the pisspot Europa League, the instability it’ll more likely create for us.

We should be aiming for CL qualification each year as a matter of course. I don’t mean that we ought to feel entitled to get it, but we should be throwing everything at getting there

With our squad we should finish top 4. The only genuine rivals are Arsenal, United and Chelsea. They all look as shaky as we do as you say. The so called best of the rest wont be challenging for top 4 come May.

As mentioned before the fact that Arse, ManU and Chelsea are shaky means we should be (on paper) able to get Top 4.

Getting rid of Poch will really destabilise us (further?). Think we need to stick it out.

When you posted the tic toc analogy a few weeks ago, I really hoped that whatever was underpinning that observation would be remedied quickly. Palace was a move in the right direction, with a reverting to a system that typically works so well for us, then we were back to being indifferent at Olympiakos and yesterday saw the doomed diamond and weird decisions reappearing.

It’s the doing the same things badly and expecting different outcomes that’s really worrying me with Poch. Baffling

As opposed to Poch who's so lovable half of our established players want to leave and our home grown star striker is all over the press criticising the team and lamenting how we haven't progressed in 5 years? I'll take the cancer that brings a few trophies and dour football over the cancer that brings nothing and dour football ta...
People say that Mourinho leaves clubs in a mess when he goes. That's not entirely true.

Both times he left Chelsea they won championships soon after.
After he left Madrid they won the CL.

I think we'd all like to think we could replace Poch with a long term option but the truth is it's very rare for that to happen. Poch's in his 6th year and things have gone stale. Both Klopp and Pep will be gone soon as they realise they can't keep going.

If we change coach it has to be with the vision of winning stuff. It has to be.

Yes because the people on this thread make the decisions at Spurs.

No not at all. But if the fan base is so split right now i can only imagine how it will be with bad results in the next few games. It is also going to be interesting to see how the media will act in this story. It is not like they talk well about Spurs.

why does the January to May results count. They are history now, and don't have any meaning to what might happen this season.

The conversation is about how long we’ve been playing poorly for. That’s just this year. Performances have been down longer than that. Give me examples of excellent league performances over the last 12 months and I doubt you’ll come up with more than 7 or 8. At a push.

Tbf if I was playing for a team and our manager dropped a player who scored a hatrick in the semifinals of the biggest competition in the world I would maybe doubt his outlook.
The head coach at the club I was at said at the time that he will lose the dressing room for doing that. I said I didn't think he would as everyone knows how important Kane is.

I'm starting to think he was right and I was wrong.

I agreed with it because we are better balanced with Kane and the Lucas/Kane partnership hasn't been the best but I imagine everyone at the club is thinking "So if I score a hatrick and take the club to where it's never been before it doesn't matter as I'll be benched?!" That must demotivate many.

To Lucas' credit he's not kicked off or stopped putting in a big effort. If it was another player we may have had even worse issues.

I don't think that the media in general have an anti Spurs bias - if you go on other football club forums, they all think that the media has a bias against their club. I think that there still remains doubt over the club because we still haven't won anything under Poch but in a general sense, the media will always sniff around if they think that there is a story - it's what they do.
