We dont know if he would have developed.Poch throws players out there young to do something.
No, but after a motm performance on the opening day against Newcastle I think it was unfair not to start again for as long as it was, and to go spunk 20m+ on a back up to Trippier, a role that KWP could have used to develop. What we do know for certain is that 3 years barely playing has done absolutely nothing to help him, and in turn us.

Like the boy.
With more games he would surely have improved
and made the LB spot his own.
Hesitancy on crossing is his main fault
but control brilliant.
3 assists in one game.
Seriously questions Mauricio's youth reputation.
Second fiddle to Aurier is a joke
and in our current situation
playing Sissoko at RB is a waste,.

Would’ve been better to use him as a makeweight in getting a player from another Prem club ( eg for wan Bissaka ) as I can’t see much of a future here for him.

The situation with him furthermore emphasises why we should have signed a RB, we all knew from last season Poch didnt favour him & now we are forced to play Sissoko there, ridiculous

When the manager is willing to use CBs and midfielders in your position it's time to move on.
I would argue that it is time for the manager to move on. - Just as I was typing that I remembered Jan in Chamions League getting MOTM at left back. Maybe I should shut up.

Jan plays LB for belgium, not sure if he still does, so playing LB for spurs isn't a big deal as he is very comfortable there.

I really, really don’t see what some of you see in him.

He isn’t a good defender, he is too weak, not outrageously quick. I see nothing more than a Championship full back. He would have developed more by now

Although he IS a way better option than Aurier haha

More than happy to be proved wrong

Aurier's performance against palace showed exactly what attributes a modern FB needs. Athleticism, aggression and a lot of sprinting for 90 mins.Only problem is Aurier only does that 1 game in 3. KWP always looks too meek and cautious. He needs to be much, much more aggressive in the other half. Whenever he has had a chance in the last two years I don't think he has done enough to get an extended run in the team. He has been unlucky with injuries and that the majority of his chances have come at LB and not RB.

Putting Sissoko right back makes sense really. We can't really drop him because he offers so much industry but we also need Winks and Ndombele yet the diamond clearly doesn't work. Sissoko doesn't have enough end product to play further forward either. I wouldn't mind seeing Sissoko and KWP as our 2 right backs and sell Aurier in Jan. I'd also like to see Foyth used as a defensive midfileder at times when we need defensive cover but Dier isn't available. KWP and Sess could well be the future fullbacks for us while Rose and Sissoko have the experience for now.

I'd be open to him starting the next batch of games either at wingback with a back 3 or with a back 4 and a conservative Davies at LB.

I think hes been far too conservative himself in his appearances. I'd hope Poch takes the shackles off and gets him attacking that byline. Other facets of his game will improve with confidence and time.

Pochettino explains why Spurs didn't buy a right-back and why some players haven't convinced him

"He ( Sissoko) played there against Southampton. When you assess the squad and options it is clear that you will use the last feeling [you had]. The last feeling is that Moussa Sissoko played one hour and he was the best playing there," said the Spurs boss.

"If you watch the game against Boufal and Redmond, he was unbelievable. The effort and how we used him. Serge is banned and for different reasons the form of other players maybe not convinces you and of course you use the feeling from last week. That is why I consider to play him there."

KWP might as well start

KWP - are we still debating whether he is good enough? Not for a top 6 side he isn’t.

I think you are right. However I do think he's good enough to be a second choice RB at the club. Truth is he's not even been given that opportunity.

After selling Trippier in the summer we should be in situation where we have a new first class and first choice RB with KWP given genuine minutes in Cup comps etc.

It doesn't surprise me that KWPs better performances have come when the team as a collective are playing better. We've been pretty turgid for some time now so expecting him to come in all of a sudden is pretty harsh.

The handling of his career has been shocking by the club. If I were him I'd be committed to leaving in January. It wouldn't surprise me if he flourished with more minutes for a lower PL or Championship team.

His last few performances have been very underwhelming. Poch sees him everyday in training and if he thought he was the answer he’d start every game. He’s come through the academy ffs! Poch has often given too much time to academy lads in the past.

He has been underwhelming. Underwhelming when pretty much EVERY other player has been underwhelming.

I'd argue he's been thrusted into the mix of being 1st choice when he hasn't been given the opportunity to be 2nd choice yet.

Yes you've got to trust Poch but this season has given me cause for concern. Remember he saw something in training to drop Verts and play Sanchez. That didn't work. He wasn't right there.

It not about giving too much or too little time. It's about giving experience at the right times. Poch doesn't get that right enough imo.

Perhaps. Not sure I agree with the Vertonghen Sanchez thing though. Jan hasn’t been good enough this season imo and Sanchez only really got consistent grief for his stints at right back. I thought he did a good job at City for example.

Both could do with a defensive midfielder ahead of them though of course!

I just don’t really get it with KWP. I want to like him but everything seems the level below of being required. Not quite fast enough, not aggressive enough, when he gets forward the delivery isn’t good enough, his positioning seems to be a little bit off etc

Of course players improve etc but I’m not sure he’s done enough to warrant being first or even second choice at the club. He’s always had better players ahead of him. Perhaps a loan or two was the best option?

Jan hasn't been good enough. Nobody has been good enough.

Jan also come back into a team that was playing shit. With a left back in Rose that is playing shit. With RBs that are swapped every game and are playing shit.

With, like you say not one defensively stable midfielder in front of the back 4.

KWO has potential which isn't being realised. That's partly down to him but also the way he's been managed.

He is fast. He's bloody quick. He has ability in crossing - we've seen that. He got a hattrick of assists in one game. His positioning isn't there but I'd be surprised if it was considering his age and lack of high level game time. He's tenacious.

He should have been on loan last season. If he was I'd bet my left bollock he'd be in a better shape of being a 1st/2nd/3rd/4th choice RB. The whole RB situ is a mess. I couldn't care less how Poch dresses it.
