I have a feeling that we will start to look good once again when Rose is back. Whilst he may not be the best, he might be the most important player in the squad in terms of the system and team balance (except maybe lloris).

No other player can provide us with the width and attacking impetus on the left that we so vitally need to break down teams that park the bus (in our existing system) and he's a better attacker than walker. He also plays in the one position where cover is weakest. Vertonghen's a decent left back defensively, but he won't dribble to the byline at pace and whip in crosses like Rose can.

It's little coincidence IMO that our poor run of form (in performance if not results) have coincided with his injury...

So. When's he back?

Agree completely, funny how many here looked down on Townsend and Rose having not watched them on loan last season and assuming they were not up to the standard and now they're two of our most important players.

Importance of Rose

Rose is called as the 'Queen of Flowers' as well as 'King of Flowers' This indicates that both [Ledley] kingliness (Magesty, Status and Power) and queenliness (Beauty, Grace and Cultural refinement) are its inherent qualities. No other flowers surpasses it for its beauty, colour and fragrance. This is the reason why it is considered as a universally favourite flower. Without roses gardens are not considered as complete.

So there you have it Rose's return makes us complete.

I was very anti-Rose at the start of the season, but I got it wrong.

His Sunderland loan did him the world of good.

He was voted their player of the season last year, which is pretty impressive for a loanee left back (even if Sunderland themselves are shite)

Problem was that most criticism was that just because they did it for Sunderland and QPR it somehow devalued their performances. Those are best teams we are able to loan to so as far as im concerned if they play well there they deserve a chance here. Too many people write off our young players

Rose will give us the width and enable us to play more effectively with inverted wingers.

It's also worth noting, that at half time against Hull, AVB did swap Lennon/Townsend over to go wider to swing the ball in - it just didn't happen that often.

But with inverted wingers, the fullbacks should be bombing out wide to get the ball in giving us more attacking options.

And our 'fortunate' penalty came from Verts doing exactly that.

And we have a black rose which is even more rare and beautiful.

Not disputing that Rose is missed as LB, but it's funny how a player's importance/value grows whilst injured.

Happens all the time - we only remember the good when they're out, but not the bad.

I do like Rose, but we still need another LB at the club. Although not sure Contreao is the answer anymore.

We need pace and width to succeed in our chosen formation. He can provide this better than anyone else in our squad. Looking forward to having him back.

I agree. And what they apparently fail to realise is Rose and Townsend were playing against EPL opposition for their development, the same opposition that they now face playing in our 1st team.
