Having had a read of the midday story from the brother Grimm - A&C - I don't feel very confident in anything happening with Bale or anyone else.

Sadly I am off the 'Bale to come home' wagon and more on the 'what the fuck are we actually going to do' wagon.

Chicken Soup time, in a bit.

As long as we get a back up striker and a top notch DM, this will be a successful window. Bale would be fantastic and would change the fundamentals but that DM position is vital.

No wonder people end up having atomic hissyfits if they allow themselves to even begin to believe that Levy will suddenly transform into the ghost of Viv Nicholson (younger users need Google here)

Not only that but window after window, toward the end we get a big name thrown up and window after window it gets lapped up like a thirsty cat at a bowl of cream.

Why smell the coffee when the acrid stench of a freshly laid cowpat is on offer.

This whole routine became boring at least 15-20 years ago.

Well no fresh links in a few days, I'd say it's the summer 2018 script all over again bar Fernandes.

Good times.

I learnt long ago, that people are idiots.
And yes, I include myself in that!

Grain of salt on this and the ITK. It is an interesting contrast to Herc's statement yesterday regarding Bale's interest in coming back (ideally). It isn't completely counter to the Trix and Herc info. It is factual and both our ITKers said the deal would be difficult, but agents are known to position their clients from a negotiating position and a statement like this could said for quite a few reasons from a negotiating perspective. (Like... RM, if you want to get rid of him, your going to have to stump up more weekly cash. Or..... RM, if you want to get rid of him, you'll need to sell at a cut rate price because we have an interested buyer and GB is willing to go there.....) While i'd love him back, i just hope to high heaven, we get a top notch DM.

In my opinion Gareth Bale is exactly what our club needs on so many levels. I am sending subliminal messages to Daniel Levy ?

Same reason why we continue to support the club despite the constant metaphorical kicks to the bollocks it gives us, I guess. Blind optimism.

And in the real world, all created information of the type we're discussing is published, so that's a bit of a specious and reductive argument.

Opinions on here are published, but they are harmless if ignored. The damage is when they are shared - especially by sources with wide audiences - as it becomes exponential from there.

Barnett's comments are odd. One could easily also say, "He's one of the best players on earth, so why would he stay at a club where they don't appreciate him? He would walk into any side in the world."
There are bonuses and agent fees involved here. From my understanding a player gets a sizeable loyalty bonus if they stay till the end of their contract or get sold, but that loyalty bonus disappears if a player hands in a transfer request. Probably the same as why Eriksen hasn't handed in a request (I'm not ITK, just an educated guess). Also in the case of Bale, if a deal is to be done then Madrid will need to take a massive loss on the player - forego transfer fee and/or subsidise wages. If Bale is shown to be pushing for a move, then the onus will more be on Bale to take the pay cut to bridge the gap, rather than on Madrid to take the loss/subsidise wages in their attempts to get him off their books

not according to his agent on SSN
Speaking about Bale at the Association of Football Agents meeting in North London, Barnett said: "He's got another two and a half years left on his contract, and he's fine. He will be there, everything will be fine.

Seems as though Barnett is just protecting the integrity of his client while the rumour mill goes berserk. Not completely ruling out a move but shooting down the notion that they’ll agree a loan. Could be a warning to RM as much as anything that he’ll just run his contract down if they aren’t presented with a deal he feels is befitting. Anyway I’m going to stop dreaming now and do some work.
