Mawspurs mentioned that Graham had scored a hatrick in one game well he did and I believe it was against Southampton. Each of the goals were scored from corners, as the corners were taken Graham ghoasted into the back of the penalty area and scored with 3 beautiful unchallenged headers. Yhe game was at the time Keegan was playing for Southampton.
Graham has always been one idols and I would love to know where he is now because I never got an autograph and would love to have one.

I remember being there at WHL for that one. I also recall that before this game there had been reports about Spurs using a Sports Psychologist with some of the players in an effort to improve their consistency. Roberts was one of those who it was thought should be scoring more goals - well it worked that day! I think that was also the season he got a much deserved England call up.

I also saw him Captaining the UEFA Cup winning side at WHL when we beat Anderlecht on penalties. During the lap of honour he was carrying the trophy round the pitch when he stopped just by where the old tunnel used to be and right in front of my Row A seat in the old West Stand and raised the Cup above his head. I can still picture the pure look of joy and pride on his face at that moment. Great memory. He'll always be a Spurs legend to me.

WOW. Now this one was freaking spooky. It had this really weird twist too, but a really good one. Did you make these up or did they come from somewhere? I hope you can tell us more? Thanks. You have a strange knack for this stuff. Tell us more.

My all time best player. Have all the same memories of him playing in all the games above, plus more. Modelled my self on him when I played. If there was one player I could meet, it would be him. The real deal.

2 great memories, one already mentioned when he helped Nicholas fly into the schoolboy enclosures at Highbury (apparantly he just missed hitting a concrete stantion).

But there was the occassion at the Lane when suppossed hard man Souness gave his usual snide kick followed by some lip giving it some, and Robbo just went for him, not charging just walking as if to say 'come on then', and Souness looked petrified and started to walk backwards, hands up to say back off, turned and cantered off with the proverbial tail in tow.
I only saw him put in his place once by a barcelona player who gave him a right hook off the ball when the ref's back was turned. He was down for a considerable time.
That barceloma team were something special though, The dirtiest animals I've ever seen play.

As this thread popped up in ‘new posts’ I immediately thought of that game against Southampton and, yes, the use of the sports psychologist.... can recall him saying it’d definitely worked!

I remember playing in a 5 a side tournament, years ago, to raise money for Prostate Cancer research. Roberts was the guest of honour, and I got to shake his hand. Top bloke.

I remember him scoring two own goals against Burnley at WHL back in 1983. We ended up losing 4-1, and he left the pitch inconsolable.

He was so visibly upset that my dad wrote him a letter telling him how important he was to the team, how much of a battler he was, how he never dodged a tackle and how he invoked the spirit of the great Dave Mackay. About a week later my dad got the most wonderfully written reply from Robbo, telling him how much he appreciated the support of his team mates and fans alike. Unfortunately the letter is now lost, but I can still recall how beautiful his writing was (well, compared to mine anyway).

My Dad was a life long spurs fan (Saintly Spur) on here who passed away in September, our surname is Roberts. I was born in 1984 and my first name is Graham. What a club captain Graham Roberts was!

Graham Le Saux's book has a good story about him trying to steal his complimentary tickets so he could sell them whilst at Chelsea. Then smashing him in training when GLS refused to hand them over. Sounds like a massive arsehole tbh.

Not to excuse what is clearly quite shitty behaviour but is it likely or possible that this happened at a number of clubs with a number of players? My presumption is that it probably did. So whilst I don't think it's right as Le Saux clearly wanted his fair share, i'd imagine there are many instances of the free tickets being flogged by someone at clubs during that time.

I still remember when he was offering to 'see to' a Tottenham fan on Twitter one time. I think its because he made a joke, a very light one if I recall.

Pretty weird behaviour from someone who should be more mature and not be getting involved with stuff like that.

He asked me to meet him for "a chat" when I pointed out he was talking complete shit a few years ago. Blocked me straight after so obviously all talk. Arsehole.

Now my mind might be playing tricks due to my advancing years but I swear I saw Roberts get a yellow card while being stretchered off after an ‘altercation’ with Laurie Sanchez at a game agains Wimbledon at WHL (might have been a red card!! )
