Actually have a chipper in my bag, so is like putting but avoids the fringe (carry 3 woods, hybrid 4,5 cavity backed 6.7, then 8,9,PW,SW,LW, chipper, putter) Played off 9 out of Woburn, until screwed shoulder up and lost 50 yards.

Some people are pretty deadly with the chipper. I carry similar but two woods , 3&4 rescues, five iron and four wedges. Have not got below 14 though at times played around 10-12 but had whole spans of time when I didn’t play.

RE: Stableford - quick question
Is there a maximum number of strokes you get from your handicap per hole?
My son plays off 52...does he really get 2 per hole and 1 more on holes with SI 1 - 16? Or is it capped?
Surely if this the case, anyone with a large handicap will murder a Stableford comp!

Played this morning. Very solid. 6 over gross in the Junior Scratch Cup. Probably be 1 or 2 shots too many to win it but you never know. Its a tricky day with a good bit of wind. Missed about 4 or 5 easy chances to make that a 1 over par score, including 3 lip outs. Happy all the same but a case of what might have been I think.

No worse than a bogey all day, and no 3 putts either but 31 putts is about 3 or 4 too many. Just couldn't make a putt of any length outside of 10 feet all day.

I'm happy / shocked to report that I made my 1st ever (and in all likelihood, only ever!) hole in one yesterday evening.
145yd, easy 7 iron, pitched 5yds short of the flag and rolled in.
First thought when it left the club 'I've not caught that well at all!' :joyful: Jammy bastard!

Well done!

Mine's a large Jack Daniel's.

Considering I've never had one in golf, only a bucket load in pitch and putt, that is jammy!

Seriously though, well done. The odds of us average Joe's making a hole in one is 12,500 to 1.

I won the best nett prize with this score. Back down to 7 as well after being back up to 8.

Game feels a bit sharper after some good practice recently.

Brilliant work, well done.

I chose to go to the driving range yesterday than play 9 holes, normally bores me but actually enjoyed it. Gotta do it if I wanna improve

The max is now 54. However most golf clubs have upper handicap limits for competitions, much lower than that.

Played 36 holes on Friday and was playing well by the end. But frustratingly missed so many 4-8 putts all day

Got an away day at Weald of Kent next Saturday. Not played since Christmas so not hopeful of playing well.

Went out this morning and played excellent again. Bar 4 holes where I had 3 doubles and a triple. Finished 11 over so ultimately frustrating. 4 3 putts too which hasn't been happening to me considering I went 5 rounds without one. 10 over on the front 9 and 1 over on the back. Annoying and pleasing in equal measures. Another round of what could have been.

Amazing golf from Rory. He's the best in the world, especially when his wedge game is on point like the weekend was.

Ahhhhhhhhrrrghghhhh

Threw a good round away this morning. Was 3 over after 4. 8 pars on the spin and I'm thinking ok just keep it going and you'll be up there. Proceeded to go Bogey, a three putt bogey from 10 feet on a par 5, par, bogey after finishing on a down slope in a bunker( I have no idea how it stayed there) par, bogey - and this was the worst of the lot. Just short of a par 5 in 2, duffed my chip, chipped my next to 4 feet and missed the putt. Irritating yet not too disheartening as I played well for the most part. Poor putting on the last 6 holes, which is frustrating as my putting has been the best part of my game for the last 4 week's.

Aaaaggghhjj

If there is such a thing as a good 30 points then I had it this morning.

3 blanks, 3 birdies and solid golf the rest of the round. Had absolutely no luck at all. Lipped out about 4 or 5 times and a few unlucky bounces too..

Hoping to do a bag mapping session over the winter to really fine tune the game going into next year. Might purchase a GPS watch too.
