What is the reason for that? Are you getting old, or injured yourself, so struggle with being able to play? Simple answer is to book a few lessons to get a pro to look at what you are doing and what is happening. If you're doing this in a comp, just make sure you are asking AFTER you have played your shot, otherwise it could be deemed as asking for "advice" and you should give yourself the general penalty, which is 2 strokes. Of course, we're not on the PGA Tour and most people don't really care, but when you're playing with some people, they can get funny about it and ruin a nice round.Oh I probably annoy them, asking what club they are taking, why that shot… I tend to chat a lot
Anyone have a good experience with a Iron club fitting?
It's just I've seen that Orka (decent Custom fit brand similar to Caley and Takamo) are offering a VIP special offer on 2 of their iron sets for a Cutsom fit from 5-PW (+ a 56 degree wedge) At £399 (usual price of RS1X is £899)
They also offer the best tolerances (10%) in the game and lifelong loft and lie alterations.
Never had a fitting but very tempted as I have seen the fitter (Alex something) fit several Youtube golfers and he seems very efficient/knowledgeable.

This is good advice! But yeah usually it’s when I’m watching someone shoot after I have done mine, more conversational and complimentary if that makes sense. If you're doing this in a comp, just make sure you are asking AFTER you have played your shot, otherwise it could be deemed as asking for "advice" and you should give yourself the general penalty, which is 2 strokes. Got my first one on the 23rd also woth a playing partner that loves a night out too lolFourball winter league match yesterday AM, 07:40 tee time. My partner didn't get in until 4am and was borderline useless. We were 4 down after 4; he topped every single one of those tee shots (my 1st 4 holes weren't exactly stellar tbf). I came alive on the 6th, then birdied 7th, 8th and the 15th to drag it out as much as I could. We eventually lost 3&2.
The opposition were a chap off scratch (pleasure to watch him operate, effortless!) and the club captain, both of whom basically acknowledged that I had a very tough gig!

Somehow I was only 2 down at that point but we still lost
He's a West Ham fan because of the film Green StreetCant believe that Billy Horschel has a golf bag with West Ham colours and their logo. Anyone know the story about that? Billy currently playing in Dubai Tour final.

I doubt everything has gone to pot. Give me some examplesHaving a mare last few weeks, and struggling to figure out what the problem is.
I've played a lot this year, whilst my official handicap is 19.1 at the moment, on my phone app, I've kept track of every round I've played and thats showing a 15.9 handicap, a slight variation, but I've played every friendly round with friends properly, no gimme's, no free shots, proper drops etc., so whilst my handicap started at a 28/29 back in Feb/Mar, its come down a fair whack and recently hitting consistently around the mid 80's on the score card.
Last 3 games, struggling to break 100, quite literally everything has gone to pot - I'm playing less, maybe its the weather, but I have my first winter league game and desperately trying to fix it a little, to at least give myself a chance. Thankfully, playing against similiar handicap players, but I get no shots, they get 1 on me, so after any advise that I can address at the range in the next couple of days
What a game eh!
It probably feels that way as carding 15/20 shots than what I'd worked ronget down to.I doubt everything has gone to pot. Give me some examples

Without seeing your swing, it could obviously be a 100 things, but the most common fault in amateur golfers is you're probably swaying, moving your low point, which can cause topped drives if you've swayed away from the lead side, or a hook if you get your hands ahead of the ball at impact, i.e. closed face, coming over the top. Strongly recommend a lesson with a pro, even just one. Guaranteed they will see the fault and correct it. If you can't do that though for whatever reason, time/money etc, when at the range, just trying some half swings focusing on your backswing and the fundamentals like grip, alignment, stance etc.It probably feels that way as carding 15/20 shots than what I'd worked ronget down to.
Topping drives, whilst I've always had a natural slice, seem to always have this little hook as well, inconsistent iron play after rubbish drives seems to be the main areas here!
Going to work on some irons at the range, just focus on set up, and rotation of swing, maybe I've been trying to do too much all at once, or even over played this summer (may sound silly), but going from playing 18 3 or 4 times a week to playing once a week maybe not helping.
Thanks dude, could be a sway actually, I won't be able to get a lesson in due to time, I've got 5 already paid for, but going to try just getting steady swing action, ots a weird one, slowly improved all year to all of a sudden go backwards!Without seeing your swing, it could obviously be a 100 things, but the most common fault in amateur golfers is you're probably swaying, moving your low point, which can cause topped drives if you've swayed away from the lead side, or a hook if you get your hands ahead of the ball at impact, i.e. closed face, coming over the top. That's golf though innit. I've gone backwards mid round... shit, I've gone backwards in terms of ability on the same hole, stupid fucking game I've just realised that I'm not good enough to get angry about it. Golf is fucking hard. Some days it will just click and you'll have that amazing round you know you are capable of. Most days, maybe 2 or 3 out of driving, irons, short-game, putting will be on song and the other will be dog shit. The key for me, after having quite a few lessons and reading up is understanding what causes certain faults, but it is so difficult to correct mid round and it is usually best to work with what you have as best you can. As an 18 handicapper you're going to shoot upper 90s or over 100. Improvement is not a linear journey, so try not to sweat it.Thanks dude, could be a sway actually, I won't be able to get a lesson in due to time, I've got 5 already paid for, but going to try just getting steady swing action, ots a weird one, slowly improved all year to all of a sudden go backwards!
Yeah, this is exactly it, I don't get angry or frustrated, even thought I've put in some poor rounds, still absolutely loving being out there playing and trying to figure out what is going wrong, I actually enjoy the challenge. That's golf though innit.
