So we’ve had our ups and downs this season, but overall it’s been both entertaining and enjoyable. It’s certainly been our best period for a while

However, there are a number of issues that the club has to resolve over the next few months:

- The manager (is Harry staying or going? And if he goes, who will take his place and will the new guy be any good?)

- The stadium (will this ever get built? Is it absolutely essential for the club’s success?)

- The players (who will stay and who will go in the summer? Can we replace those who leave?)

- Champions League (will we qualify?)

- The owner (will AEG, or someone else, take over and if they do what will it mean for the club?)

It seems that the club is at a cross-roads and I can’t help but think that the next 10 to 12 weeks, however things play out, will have an impact on Spurs for the next decade or so

With that in mind, what will the future hold for Spurs? Will it be onwards to bigger and better things, or will it be back to the mid-table dross of yester-year?

In my dreams it goes something like this:

- The manager - Harry accepts the England job after a fairly average showing at the Euro's. Mourinho is appointed manager on a 6 year deal.

- The stadium - Qatar Airways announce a £400m over 20 seasons naming deal for the new Spurs stadium, Spurs announce funding now secured for stadium built to commence asap due to Qatar sponsorship.

- The players - Chelsea fail to make CL and fall into semi-disarray as they struggle to bring in a world class manager in the summer. In light of this Modric signs a new deal. A deal is worked with City to bring Ade in on a perm basis and we sign Hazard, Verhtognen, Tim Howard & Hoilett. Only outgoing players are Bentley (£2m), Defoe (£8m), Pienaar (£5m), Friedal (released), Gomes (£5m) & Jenas (£3m).

- Champions League - We finish in 3rd, 1 point ahead of Arsenal to gain automatic qualification to the CL.

- The owner - Spurs announce partnership deal with AEG in relation to the new stadium putting to bed any upcoming take over talks, AEG confirmed as new cup sponsor in place of Investec.

I like a lot of this alternate reality although it would be great if newcastle creep into the champions league instead of Arse? Also friedel still has a year left at least ...

 I think that's the best case scenario

But if we draw our next two matches, our rivals win theirs and then we lose to Chelsea, suddenly things look very different

That's why I think the next few months are incredibly important in our development

TBH I think we'll scrape into the Champion's League places and sort the stadium out. However, I think Modric will probably leave in the summer although we'll hold onto Bale

As for our manager, who knows

Harry will probably leave, but I think finding a replacement will be potentially harder than some fans are making out. If Mourinho doesn't want the job then it'll mean taking a risk on someone

As for AEG, I'm not convinced that they'll be overly bothered with how we do in the league, just as long as we're turning a profit and the new stadium is holding plenty of non-football events

Time for our scouting team to find a replacement for Modric .

He is still going through the motion but no longer shows that single minded desire to win .

Better to have a player who wants to be here than one who is lukewarm about it or outright wants away .

PS it's like Brad Friedel saying he enjoyed his time at Villa but it was time for a change .

- The manager - this is a concern as we have seen how much of a difference a great manager makes. Hiring a manager is such a hard job and no one seems to know the best way to do it. Finding someone to fit your club is very difficult. We only seem to get it right twice every 20 years. I'm offering my soul to the devil for HR to stay.

- The stadium - It's essential in the long run but doesn't need to be completed right now. We have a small stadium but expensive tickets so we do well. It'a more important that we get it right rather than rush it through and not get a good financial deal.

- The players - Modric is likely to be off if we get the right offer and I tihnk we'll struggle to offer an acceptable deal to Adebayor.

- Champions League - yes but possibly in 4th place. This will certainly give an edge in the transfer market.

- The owner - I don't believe any major changes in this department will occur soon.

I think you're right.

I hope that brasil_spur's aspirations are realised but accept the fact that there will be a few bumps in the road before we get to where we all hope that we end up.

The two critical issues are the manager and the stadium. The manager is the most important person on the playing side of the club and - as we have seen so often - it is very easy to choose the wrong man. The feeling that I get is that we are set fair regarding the stadium, and I don't believe that it will hinder the availability of funds for the team to a great extent.

The key is Daniel Levy. As long as he stays, I am pretty confident that we'll stay on the right track. If he goes, then all bets are off.

Good Thread, always important to look and plan for the future in any business or football club to keep moving forward, now is a crucial period for us more than ever perhaps, do we sustain and/or build on the good few recent years or do we take two-steps backwards again if say Harry were to leave.

Manager- If Harry doesn't go then great...if he does which is more than likely and we need to be planning for this then Mouriniho is the best, if there is any chance whatsoever of getting him lets do it,if not we need to think long and hard about who suits Spurs and can sustain our growing momentum as a club long-term. Someone in the Prem who knows the Prem etc would be Moyes, well-respected manager, not much CL experience and not quite a 'Spurs man' but perhaps a good 2nd choice, otherwise we risk going abroad again but we have seen what happens when we have done that *cough Ramos.

Stadium- If we get the right funding etc and it is economically viable and will not put the club in danger then lets do it, yes it would help L-T with gate recipts, income etc eventually helping us to up our wage structure, very important to do this ASAP in my opinion.

Players - Although it may not be to Chelsea and we can't let it be to Man.U or City I do think Modric will leave this summer unless say Mouriniho comes in. Only Levy and Modric know what is likely with this one but we should prepare to find a replacement if he does. Bale, VDV etc if we make CL again and get a decent manager in should give it at least one more season IMO, if Mouriniho came in they'd stay for sure. We do need to sort the squad out a bit though, Harry loves his older players but we've not had a decent keeper for a while and Brad is getting on, King and Gallas are getting more and more injuried and not looking up to speed and we don't own Ade. Ideally we sign say: Krul, Venthorgen,Hazard and Ade or Remy and finally sell off all the dead wood, easier said than done I'm sure. Seems quite simple to us what we require player-wise I'm sure a million £ manager should be able to work it out.

Champions League - IF we did have a disaster and come 5th it would change a lot of plans, Bale,Modric etc would all more than likely go and potential Stadium etc sponsors and players would likely say no, so this is huge this season, also big name managers would also probably say no. VITAL we finish top4 but I really think we can and 3rd is still realistic for sure just need to make sure this blip doesn't turn into a slump, back to winning ways with players returning to fitness and we will be fine, we have a very talented squad and league positions come end of season reflect that.

The Owner- Finally, A billionaire etc would help with the new stadium but Joe Lewis is rich enough surely and yes a new sponsor would be great but as people have said surely it is important to keep Levy in charge he has done a quite magnificent job over the years, we really were shit on and off the pitch in the early 90's, Sugar helped, save us fair play and now Levy has moved us to the next level, hats off and important we keep him I think + don't want us to be associated with just splashing millions like city etc, if we are clever and sell the dead wood we'd only need a few players in and we'd have a serious shot at the title next year.

Times are good and the future could be very bright also, we need to plan and have contingencies however 'Failure to plan, plan to fail'.

COYS.
