I think it will be interesting to see how aggressive Verstappen is going into turn 1. Max has nothing to gain or lose in this race, but really neither does Mercedes/Russell. Sure, they both want to win but neither are a factor in the constructor’s championship - so both could hold their ground leading to an incident.

If Max were up against a McLaren or Ferrari - he would be super aggressive knowing those cars would have to back out of any potential danger. But knowing that Russell can be just as aggressive/stubborn could impact how Verstappen approaches it.

Well done FIA......debris effectively takes Hamilton and Sainz out of the race then call for a safety car.

Muppets.

Yeah poor call, everyone was calling for that 4 laps earlier and they did nothing until it took cars out.

Been a bit of a boring race though.

Norris's penalty seemed harsh. He deserved something but a 10-second stop/go seemed harsh.

Not seen anyone get that type of penalty for ages. Compared to other penalties i. Agree it was harsh. He deserved a penalty though.

I do think that penalty should be used though, but needs to be more consistent all season. The 5/10 seconds added on at the end of the race has little effect these days.

Compared to the 10-second penalty for causing a collision that Stroll got - it was harsh. Probably should flip those penalties.

(But it does take balls to levy a penalty against Norris in that situation when the race director allowed an unsafe situation to exist with the mirror on the track…)

Sergio Pérez set to leave Red Bull at end of season - sources

Sergio Pérez is set to leave Red Bull at the end of the 2024 season, sources have told ESPN.

According to multiple sources, Red Bull have decided to move on from Pérez after Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Team boss Christian Horner hinted at Pérez's impending exit after the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday.

"I'm going to let Checo [Pérez] come to his own conclusions; nobody's forcing him one way or another," Horner said when asked about the Mexican driver's future. "It's not a nice situation for him to obviously be in."

Yesterday's race was a mess, from the various penalties, to the mirror sat on the track which eventually (potentially) was the cause of two punctures after someone inevitably drove over it. F1 is becoming a bit of a farce at the moment in terms of Race directors etc. Ben Sulayem chopping and changing staff to suit his own agenda (having people who won't punish Max/Red Bull).

The Norris penalty just reeks of: "Hey, we need to make sure McLaren does not cinch the constructor's title today, so we can hype it up in the last race!"

Fast becoming WWE on the track rather than a sport. Feel sorry for the teams and drivers as they are now being manipulated to suit the ‘entertainment narrative’ of the authorities. The slipper slope started when Liberty took control.
