This will be England's first big challenge in terms of the attacking threat offered by the opposition. The Dutch do have some effective attackers who could cause problems. Having said that I could see England having lots of opportunities to hit them on the break. It's too tight to call this match. Still think it's irrelevant who wins this match as Spain should batter whoever they play in the final.

Shaw said he was fit to start this so fingers crossed he does as I think that will help the balance big time. Tonight is too close to call, I think we can beat them but also think they can beat us. Just got to take chances when they come.

My prediction is we win this game with some nice attacking football, that we're able to play for once as Netherlands aren't a sit back and nick it type team. We then go into Sunday with Southgate thinking that he's finally nailed it and with the players all thinking they go and play some open attacking football again, only to be thumped by Spain.
I mean he's a potential 4 days away from a cup final, so it makes sense he's unfit

Trouble is if he drops Kane and we lose, he will get pelters for dropping the captain in a major semi-final. I know he has been getting them regardless anyway, but honestly I think Kane has to start whatever.
This is exactly where I'm at.
Part of me thinks Kane is gonna bang in a hat trick and we are going to play fast paced, attacking football, even though the years under southgate have shown me that no matter who the opposition is, we just don't, we play slow, possession based, hardly going forward football.
We lose against better teams, in fact, every single top team we have encountered we have lost against (that I can remember) and I know Southgate won't change that way of playing, yet I still believe the team are capable of banging four past this dutch team...

If, as seems likely, Trippier will start, I worry that Dumfries will overpower him, both on the floor & in the air.I was hoping shaw would be fit to start. I am guessing southgate is going to try and keep it at 0-0 for as long as possible, then put him on when we go behind.
