It's the highest level of incompetence I have seen from a coach.

And it is compounded further with the fact he took no back up LCB and no Grealish or Maddison but 3 CFs.

And then the continuation of waiting deep into the game to make a change despite it abundantly clear to everyone something is missing
I agree although ironically he's actually had a few opportunities to use Toney and Watkins for more minutes and indeed whole games given Kane's performances.

You must have been absolutely gutted when Kane scored then.
If you can't cheer a last minute equaliser, even out of sheer relief, then possibly you do indeed need to take a break from Football.
Not football. Just England. It's a shitshow and they have been an embarrassment so far.

One more slight issue to deal with for Switzerland - managing YCs.

Guehi - is out against Switzerland

Mainoo, Bellingham, Gallagher, Trippier and Foden would miss the semi-final if they pick up a YC against Switzerland.
To be honest Gallagher or Trippier getting yellows might actually be a good thing! Means Southgate can't play them. I don't think Foden would be an issue really either. Bellingham is the one that would be a massive blow.

I'm also praying we don't have Dunk in place of Guehi for Saturday

Its England. Mainoo will get a 1st half YC, Gallagher will pick one up in the 2nd half.

TAA back to the starting XI

It’s worse than wing nut going to the wc instead of jd and even to this day I still can’t work out that decision

I seem to remember something about that as he was going for tbe experience?

Oh great, need an attacker who offers something different? Not necessary, we have a kid here on work experience.

Been down this road so often with England, personal highlights were doing stewarding ‘96 at the Spain and Scotland games, absolutely amazing back in my 20’s.
It’s not about needing to take a break from football, from a supporters perspective we see the wealth of attacking options the manager has and personally I just can’t understand how rubbish we are when we get into the final third, or how we think by keeping the ball on the halfway line knocking it sideways will win us a game.
They can’t keep telling the players to play the way they do when the players have got so much more in their lockers.

Read or heard the other day someone saying that the way to judge a manager is not his squad selection, or his team selection but his in match management. How he changes tactics or personnel during games in order to win them. This is Southgate’s greatest failing. He sits on his hands on the sideline watching his team lose all control of the game without making any attempt to change the narrative. That’s simply incompetence and it should be job disqualifying.

The slow tempo is clearly tactical and it’s infuriating… it was especially noticeable as Stones has the ball, he holds on to the ball until an attacker is close as possible before releasing it, when an earlier pass is on.

This is exactly how I feel.about England. Didn't celebrate either goals yesterday, there is nothing to be cheerful about with England with the way Southgate has us playing, we are always such a disappointment in comparison to how we should be able to play that I have no emotion now when it comes to us.

God you lads are spoilt 😂. You guys haven't won anything in a lifetime yet every tournament it's the same old shite about how you have a fantastic team that should just walk it.

You seem to keep emphasising the idea that all England fans expect to win every tournament, which isn't accurate.

There's certainly a vocal minority who hold that view, but they're not representative of the majority here. Most sensible England fans, much like sensible Tottenham fans, don't expect the team to win every tournament. However, they do expect better performances than what we're seeing in this tournament.

If we apply your arguments about England not winning anything to Tottenham fans, then by that logic, we could say Spurs fans shouldn't ever complain because historically, we haven't won many trophies either. The last time Tottenham won the league was longer ago than the last time England won the World Cup.

Can't agree with this at all.

Firstly very few people are saying we should walk it.

But more importantly so far we've played Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia and Slovakia.

That's 32nd, 21st, 57th and 45th in the World.

The fact that we won one of those games in 90 minutes and have scored 4 goals is poor by any definition.

The only thing I have said, is we have enough good players to win this type of tournament, or compete with the very best, but this type of structure, performance we struggle against way lower teams.

It's just weird, even after Kane's goal yesterday just sat back and let them have the ball, just doesn't make much sense, but got the win, onto the qtr's for much of the same

I've seen Walker getting a lot of stick elsewhere but I didn't think he'd been too bad? Always one of my favourite England players and was gutted when he left Spurs.
