We're looking better, but I'd still like to see another real shot player in the team. Luke Wright from Sussex could fit this bill and is someone who could really make use of the powerplays if he gets going. Another one who I'd love to see in the team evenutally is Adil Rashid from Yorkshire. Imagine having him come into the team when his leg-breaks have matured - and as he is a proper batsman he could give us real depth.

looking like a cracking end of the game, broad and bopara both have 42, need four to win despite being way down at one point...

Cracking stat from Siddo, our prolific man at the ground, who tells me Mascarenhas' 30 in the final over is the most by an Englishman. Ian Botham once mowed 24, and Andrew Flintoff clobbered 27.

We're in for a cracking game here. Join us in 40 minutes for India's reply

What an effort by England having stumbled to 20 for 2 and 83 for 4. They smashed 114 in the last 10 overs, with Luke Wright ('Luke the Duke' according to Bumble) providing the impetus and urging Owais Shah on to a very fine hundred. But Mascarenhas's hitting at the end - which prompted David Lloyd just now to call him 'dangerhanes' (what a great nickname) - was something else. With each six, his timing seemed to improve and the ball sailed further and deeper into the stands.

49.6 - Yuvraj Singh to Mascarenhas, SIX, make that five sixes in the over! And the biggest of the lot, straight back over the bowler's head! Quite breathless cricket Where will he bowl now? Surely not another leg-side dart?

49.5 - Yuvraj Singh to Mascarenhas, SIX, he's done it again! And this has gone even further into the midwicket boundary. A brilliant, crisp, effortless clip for six Poor bowling. Yuvraj is firing these, predictably, into his legs and Mascarenhas is picking them off with ease

49.4 - Yuvraj Singh to Mascarenhas, SIX, and another one! This is marvellous batting here. Another step outside leg; another six into midwicket

49.3 - Yuvraj Singh to Mascarenhas, SIX, he takes a step outside leg and smites him for six into the midwicket fence! Bosh!

49.2 - Yuvraj Singh to Mascarenhas, SIX, and he swings this over midwicket, high and handsome - but Piyush is lurking, and makes excellent ground to take a brilliant catch. However...such was his velocity that he slid into the boundary, and it's six! Tough luck.

49.1 - Yuvraj Singh to Mascarenhas, no run, an ugly and not particularly effective mow

Great series win for England against a strong India side. The future is definately looking bright for England's ODI team.

england nearly restored pride by gettin to 200 but its not enough and they go home with just 1 win from their 5 matches which is pretty shocking

And that win was against Zimbabwe. England needed to beat one of the top nations.

Btw, those 6 sixes in 1 over by Yuvraj was simply incredible.

we were only well beat really by the aussies i suppose thats something

india batted very well

south africa we shoulda beat. collingwood called a catch on Morkel when he had only just got in then left it. we then should have chased it was in a decent position and fucked it up

new zealand we were cruising in our chase at one point and still fucked it up

i dont think we are too far away from gettin it right but still im ashamed of the team

Bump!!!

England currently touring Sri Lanka. After bowling Sri Lanka out for 188 wit 4 wickets fo Hoggard we are 186-8 at stumps on day two in the first test. Only really Bell performing with 83, Prior and Cook were out for ducks. Btw Murali equaled Warne's test record of 708 wickets in the process.

How the fucking hell is that sri lankan allowed to chuck the ball like that. Also a couple of outrageous umpire decisions. Ball clearly grounded.

 Yeah, I don't buy any of this 'optical illusion' crap.

As I said the other day when sasked to compare Warne and Murali.

When Warne broke the rules, they banned him.
When Murali broke the rules, they changed the rules.

Murali can take 10 million wickets for all I care; Warne's still the greatest bowler the game's ever known.

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms at the moment from having no England to watch. A bit of cricket is always good at helping cope with the ups and downs of following Spurs!!!!!

Very true - I must have some perverse addiction to supporting teams with thier fair share of 'downs' rather than 'ups'!!! :-|

You just know that England, like Spurs really, have lots of good youngsters who will come good eventually - it's just waiting for that day, whenever that may be, which is the problem!!
