I think I'm right in saying that Levy, being Jewish, won't be doing any work today (Sabbath) so nothing will get done today, and tomorrow's Sunday, so I think we'll looking at work starting on a new manager Monday morning, surely?

Sounds to me that we put all our eggs in one basket and were confident of getting our man but he rejected us at the last minute so it is back to square 1 given the song is about someone being stood up

I don't think he's that orthodox. Most matches take place on a saturday and he needs to appear, network, and make descisions.

Have to say I doubted ITK before but they were all right about Harry.
So we now know there is a shortlist being decided on.

That is fairly dumb imo. If you are going to sack a media darling you need the replacement chosen before you do it. The longer we go without a manager, the more of a laughing stock the media will make us and the more of a crisis they will make it into.

Not good business!

Good business is doing your research to make the most informed choice, even if it takes time. It's not making a selection so you can avoid criticism. That'd be incredibly poor business.

Besides, who gives a shit what the media think? All I read on here is how bad and incorrect the media are. If that's true, then wtf are you afraid of? Them being even more wrong? What would it matter? No one here believes them anyway. It's all either very self-defeating or hypocritical, but whatever.

just posted this on another thread but kinda relevant on here

ok this is my take, for what its worth

I think DL has or will be approaching Pep Guardiola. That is where he will start. If you don't ask you don't get. He would be the dream and whilst it is highly unlikely, we have nothing to lose in asking.

So presuming Pep says thanks but no thanks, DL will look for his next best alternative. He will still want someone will the same ideas and philosophy as Pep. As a result he is highly unlikely to go for someone like Moyes. Pep and Moyes are like chalk and cheese.

So AVB is probably the most like Pep...just a few years behind him in his personal development

So i expect AVB to be the new manager if Pep says no

Although i have no idea if Noodles song is relevant to either of them!!
Interesting. I think if DL asked Pep - and as you say, if you don't ask, you don't get - and Pep didn't come, it doesn't necessarily follow that DL would go for someone with the same outlook/approach/philosophy. The reason I say this is that whoever DL goes shopping for, he is still essentially shopping and having to buy from whoever is available. And of course, from who is affordable, as the two are to some extent related. So what I'm trying to say, rather clumsily with my brain freezing up, is that choices are often affected by market place pragmatism, underscored (?) by a need fo a reasonably fast purchase (I don't believe there were necessarily extensive plans for an HR replacement, btw, but that's another discussion). So it doesn't follow that if Pep is first choice that Moyes, say, or a.n.other completely different beast, wouldn't be next on the list. And what I - or we - think about the 'choices' has to be tempered by this reality.

I have to say I find Noodle's song(s) / cryptics annoying, daft and not much help really.

I'm sure he's a jolly nice chap in real life though.

From JJ's info I'm growing with the feeling that it is Blanc and we have already agreed with him before the Euros. JJ would like us to know that there is a short list to convey that Levy did pre-plan this otherwise that could generate incredibly bad publicity. So lets pretend there is a shortlist and what a coincidence that Blanc's out of contract come July. There's no way it could get announced before France have finished the tournament.

The possible candidates fall into three broad categories - currently unemployed (e.g. AVB, Benitez, Pep); club managers (Moyes, Martinez, Deschamps); and national managers (Blanc, Klinsmann).

If we are going after somebody in the first category, we should expect an announcement soon. The longer the delay, the more likely that our manager will come from the other categories.

If we are going after a club manager, it will be difficult to keep our approach quiet. We would have to ask permission to approach the manager and this would certainly be publicised. The fact that we haven't heard from Whelan or Kenwright would indicate that we either are not signing a club manager or we are earlier in the recruitment process than ITK has indicated.

A similar argument could be made for national managers except that an approach is more likely to be kept under wraps, especially if the contract is due to expire (e.g. Blanc).

For obvious reasons I would expect Levy to initially try for Pep and Klinsmann but neither of these seem likely.

If we haven't had an announcement, or heard of an approach to another club, by the middle of next week then it would point to Blanc. Personally, I am going to take the 33s still on offer for Blanc with a saver at 80s (with Betfair) on Deschamps.

There's far too much sense being spouted in that whole post, off with you already - don't you know what thread you're in.

I agree with all that btw. :)

Well someone posted on here yesterday, or the day before - I forget which, that the Spanish Press are saying that DL has definitely had at least one meeting with Pep, but they don't know the result of that meeting.

My take is that either Pep would say no immediately, or he would ask for a few days to consider the issue. He is most unlikely to say yes immediately. Let's hope that he says yes on Monday!

Let me continue dreaming for another day or two eh!

2 x Dumb ratings for posting the ITK from here into the RO. Thanks a fucking bunch.

I've given you some positive rep to try and balance out the fucking retards who can't understand the rating system.

Rob, mods (hell even A&C ;)) - is there anyway to turn off all ratings in the RO thread?

is it blanc? cos rain, nowhere to go, be yourself (not arsene?) all make me think that...

and guess what? I've only gone and backed him on betfair to minimise my possible bloody £300 loss on avb... I will never learn to take a pinch of salt.
