We haven't had much on Bernard since before the Confed's Cup. Either we thought he was too dubious in stature/physicality and moved away or the my guess is that there was a lot of complications in the third party....which tells you why Porto is an options as they deal with those things quite well.. I can't find anything recent, so sorry if I missed something. So I think that Chadli would be far from 2nd choice as we've had way more on him that Bernard in general but especially since May.

Although I'd be damned if I could tell you who would be better in either the short, medium or long term.

But the reason we haven't had any info on Bernard since then was because Bernard himself said he wont think about a transfer until the Libertadores. Infact, all of the info his club or agents have said since then have just been a re-hash of what was said before. The only new info to come out since then have been talk of possibilities of Arsenal & Liverpool bidding each from unreliable source's.

I'm not being confrontational here Twizz. I'm being honest in my lack of full insight. If you can find it, I would love to read it and if not in the RO, know why (such as the new guy who they are working on). Any let is appreciated as my search parameters have been either too broad or too narrow. Thanks

and when the player moves on to another club, Porto sees very little of the transfer fee as it all goes to the third party owners.
A deal with the devil...lol.
Google Falco transfers...

That's a good point. That being said, as you point out, black and white doesn't exist and there are clubs cuing up (outside of my noted Porto)....all trying to get into a queue as this tournament hits its end.......even from these unreliable sources, we're not mentioned all so often.

Once again, Bernard joins......Happy is happy
but
if Bernard doesn't join.....Happy trusts

If Chaldi joins or doesn't.......Happy is trustfully happy

When we talk about the price, we need to remember that its different quote for different teams. Where third party ownership is allowed like in Porto or Shaktar, I am sure the asking price is low. I believe all other English teams will be quoted around 20m mark. It really comes down to where Bernanrd wants to go to and whether the club agrees to the agents/third party owners demands.

Personal opinion - I have seen Bernard play only few times - I can't see how we can justify 20m on him. atm, he is only 15m worth to me and given the priroiy is a striker, I am not sure if we can afford a luxury signing like him .

I agree, just cant see how he would be worth more than Paulinho

he's worth what some one will pay and if all the bullshit about goons and scousers sniffing around is just bullshit, then I think 15mill is more like a reasonable valuation

if that fails looks like we have a plan B in Chandli

and the whole scenario can change overnight at WHL

Disagree with us not being mentioned often. In fact, I don't think I have seen the Chairman of AM or one of Bernard's agents mention any bids/transfers without mentioning our name. There seems to a new club linked each time by these unreliable sources and they only ever mention that club at a time. So far we have had Shahktar, Dynamo Kiev, Liverpool and Arsenal. Each time they say these clubs are thinking about or will make a bid but they never happen.

If you look at all of the teams interested in Bernard, we are the only team (apart from Liverpool & Arsenal who have only been linked in the last day) that hasn't bought an alternative. Dortmund - PEA & Mkhitaryan, Shahktar - Fred, Dynamo Kiev - Belhanda and Porto - Juan Quintero.

Also, the link with Arsenal & Liverpool came the same day Porto signed Quintero.

It depends who you are comparing with. There are always bargains and overpriced players and I think that 20mil is fair given his potential and skill set. His is quick, an amazing dribbler at speed, creative passer of the ball, can cross, can shoot and most importantly makes the right decision most of the time.

The only reason he isn't Brazil's first choice is because he plays the same position as Neymar.

Oscar went for 23m
Hazard for 32m
Fred (inter to Shahktar) for 13m
Willian 30m

IMO, Hazard is the only one of those that is better than Bernard and even then I would want to see Bernard in the PL to make that call.

Bernard might not even move. If his club wins, they compete in the club world cup. Reports in Brazil are stating that he would likely opt to stay if (or likely when) this happens.

If a fee is agreed, he will definitely leave. I have not seen one report saying he will stay for the world club cup. I few people on Twitter thought he might when he first announced he would stay for the Libertadores that he might but since changed their minds.
