If there genuinely is no other club in FIFA willing to buy Soldado, then our brinkmanship is ruthless but ingenious. However, if Valencia have the opportunity to sell their prized striker to anyone else, surely they will. We sound absolutely horrible to do business with - I think that's the moral of LedleyKing76's story.

How will this all end? Methinks in tears and Loic Remy.

Razor blades at the ready.

We haven't lowered our bid, we've offered to pay 24m to Valencia and 6m to the agent, or 26m to Valencia.
Which is actually quite a sneaky move, in a good way.

Dangle the carrot for the president, more for your club, fuck the agents. It's his problem and he's the one who has to explain why he hasn't got the money for the creditors ie. the people who put him in charge in the first place.

We clearly hold a good hand here & i've no concern about other clubs; they don't appear to be involved and have maybe wisely given this president & his wishlist pricetags a wide berth. Ultimately, I can't see how he can resist
a) his board
b) the creditors
c) the player's wishes
d) the wishes of any replacement & representatives
e) the irresistable force THFC

Either we win or nobody wins IMO.

I'd say we were ruthless. We did the same to Leeds, they were paying half of Keanes wages while going bankrupt. Let alone Lennon and Robbo.

Doesn't read as though it's about 6million. It reads as though it's about installments, the number and length thereof.

Might have the wrong end of the stick, mind.

Edit: fuck, we've lowered our bid...:(
I'm with you cowboy. It looks like the agents' fees aren't part of the discussion. Also the bid lowering has pissed me off somewhat.

Don't know how you got to that from what LedleyKing 76 posted. "He [Valencia President]said I'll waive the agents 6 million fees, we'll include them in the price"

Great thing about Coentrao is he is just like Bale interms of turning defense into attack with his run. And he plays at times almost as a winger along the touch line and puts in some good crosses.

Bad thing about Coentrao is he is just like Bale in defense.

Coentrao is a winger turned LB

I'd very much like to sign him though. Very good player

Hmmm, if true, people generally don't like it when you say we'll pay you an amount and then later reduce that amount when it seems they're happy to accept the initial offer... Would be a very poor negotiation strategy that leads to shit going sour.

Is he more disciplined than benny, but with the same skill level?

I'm not sure about this LedleyKing 76 info. It makes no mention at all of Matthew Collecott, who we were given to understand went out with Baldini and, as far as we have heard, is still there. Plus I don't think it all that likely that we would play brinkmanship to the extent of lowering our bid when AVB wants a striker and we have apparently already missed out on two. There's not an inexhaustible supply of top-notch strikers who we could realistically buy, and buy now.

My onion - and I am NOT ITK - is that we are haggling over add-ons and/or instalments with the principal sum (be it 20 or 24 or 26 million) already agreed.

Hmmm..I would trust Levys negotiaion skill over anyone on this forum. The only reason we are able to offer so much for Soldado in the first place is due to years of Levy haggling on every deal be it buying or selling.

Soldado and the 6 million fee.
The story so far. Once upon a time there was a football club called Valencia who had a goalscorer called Soldado.
Valencia had a president who did his best to cut costs but time came for him to leave so he made sure his friends all got long contracts and left to let a new guy take over.
This new president wanted to raise money so he decided he could sell his striker and put a 30 million price on his head. He told all the football club fans Soldado will not be sold for under 30 million.
With 6 million agents fees as well, naturally nobody was interested. Clubs talked but but it was not until Tottingham came along and said we'll buy him that the new president could talk to anybody.
He said I'll waive the agents 6 million fees, we'll include them in the price so Mr Baldini, who had been sent by Tottingham to speak to the player and the president, talked with the agent of Soldado. The agent said Soldado wants to leave and he wants to come to Spurs so off Mr Baldini went to see the president.
He told the president and that Soldado wanted to move to Tottingham and Soldado also told the president. This pleased the president because he need 14 million to balance his books and some money for new players.
Mr Baldini said I will give you 26 million + 4 million later when Soldado has done some things for us. That includes the agents 6 million so you will get your 30 million. The president however wanted all his money now or 2 payments not over 5 years as Mr Baldini wanted.
The Valencia board were meeting the following day so the president said he will ask them then.
Mr Baldini later said to the president I will pay you 24 million + 2 million extras but no 6 million agents fees.
The president said no, you will pay all the 30 million and how I want it, you can come back to me when you agree to this before 3 August.
Mr Baldini said no I won't and left to go home to Tottingham.
Will president rue his decision, he still has to find 14 million from somewhere and nobody will give in to his demands.
Time will tell.
So boys and girls this all hinges on 6 million agents fees.

Don't tell me ... I know how this ends... erm

Valencia go bankrupt and we still don't buy the striker *winner* *WTF* *LIKE* *NOT LIKEY*
