As much as I would love to believe the "Uncle Joe" ITK, I won't be holding my breath until the window slams shut and we have kept Bale and have a net spend of 60m plus. You have to look at Levy and Lewis' history, they are not frivolous spenders on emotion, they are shrewd business men, and while there is an argument that now is the time to spend with the impending FFP and so much fresh managerial meat in the PL, in pure business terms, it is a huge risk, because we could spend £200m, but a few injuries, bad luck at key times, and our perennial shocking inability defend set pieces rising its head again, and we could still finish 5th.

As, I say, would love it to be true, but time will tell. Some you have to be prepared to be sitting here on Sep 3rd, seeing Bale gone and our net spend being pretty much zero, and having let Jim Whyte and SSN sucker you into another day infront of the telly.

And how do you explain breaking our transfer record not once but twice as well as spending that pretty significant amount on the 28 year old Soldado?

True enough, but that's why £26m on a 28yr old Soldado was so uncharacteristic

Absolutely. Irrespective of whether Bale is sold this year or next, the signing of Soldado has already gone massively against the grain. Not to mention us doing our business early, getting in Baldini to improve the efficiency of such.

I think its reasonable to assume some of the recent ITK could have a serious element of truth to it - the signs are supporting it to be honest.

I don't wanna be 'the one' that says this but... what if ghostfarmer is the only one to be telling the truth and the others are all being told the same cos the club don't want it known..?

I'm not saying that's what I think, or what - of course - I want. But one voice standing against all others?

Isn't that a bit like where we were before the influx of info; JJ saying he's probably going, and all else pointing in the other direction?

That 'Billy White' fella on COYS also hinted that all wasn't well regarding Bale with a ' :( ' post (which happened to be his penultimate contribution on that forum before closing his account).

If you pull apart the varying recent ITK records of people making statements on this it becomes starkly obvious that the bad news is limited to Bale's desire to leave. Hence Billy White's frown smiley; that was a new stance at that point, prior to around then we thought he was content to stay.

Since then, all the reliable ITK is saying that Levy doesn't wanna play ball with Madrid at the paltry terms they're prepared to put forward and until that changes, which given the current utter silence from Marca, the formerly vocal Spanish press & the Madrid squad, (pretty much ever since Ronaldo was blase about the whole idea) then there is NOTHING DOING.

If as many many iTK has suggested, we're not selling unless we get a mega bid, then most likely, we're not selling.

Always worth checking which way the wind's blowing with these things and at this moment there isn't even a breeze.

So apparently we have a interest free loan of £50m.
Player sales could equate to £30m
TV deal £60m
We have roughly £140m to play around with....without putting the club's budget at risk.

don't know enough to pin that down.

i'd add though, nothing is that simple.

Interesting to see Steve Nash's soccer charity thing last month was sponsored by AEG and UA.

As I said in the original post, we don't know whether this is investment, or merely spending the Bale money before the deal is rubber stamped in order not to pay inflated prices. Time will tell I guess.

As for Soldado's age, I think we were running out of options at centre forward. He was one of the only players left that would be willing to come to us on the right wages.

Levy doesn't make moves based on the potential sale of an asset because there are no guarantees the sale will go through or that he'd get the fee required for said moves. Someone as smart as Levy does not just go crazy because he thinks he'll get 100 million out of Madrid, such speculation is ridiculously out of character for him.

Yep I'll say now that, even as a defender of Levy in many cases, if Bale is sold and the majority isn't reinvested into truly class signings, then Levy will have officially fucked us over. He can't afford to do with Bale what he did with Berbatov.

I believe we may already be reinvesting. And with the class signings you desire.

We have already added a striker who scored 34 goals and assisted 6 last season, and an attacking wide player who scored 19 from 27 starts last season. A quality Brazilian box to box who scored 8 and assisted 3 and a very promising French CM.

There's about 60m there. And improvements in more than one area and easily replaced Bale's best season output.

A suspicious mind might think we know Bale is gone and have said to RM let us do our business first otherwise we'll be hit hard on every move we make knowing we have their money to burn.

If uncle Joe has put some money in the pot maybe it's merely an advance on what he knows is coming back in for Bale very soon ?

I was saying this earlier and got shown down lol

With regards to uncle Joe....lets hops he's building the pot in advance of what we are likely to get for Bale next summer as opposed to this one.
