What is the F’ng disagreeing about FFS
I bet it was Eriksen and his agent :cautious:

I can't really complain that Eriksen is honouring his contract though to be fair. It's rare these days. Still would like us to get a decent amount this month and put our faith in Lo Celso. It's all a bit too boring now and runs the risk of tainting his time here somewhat. Should still go down as a club legend though.

To be fair to him, I remember Eriksen saying he had a "secret plan" on how he wanted his career to pan out a long time ago... which likely involved going on to bigger and better things. So, it can't have been a surprise that he's stalled on a signing a new contract for so long.

And in Levy's defence, if he'd sold Erisken a few years ago there would've been uproar.

So, full credit to him for feeling like he could convince him to stay. It didn't happen. But you've got to admire the confidence.

Or the folly of thinking that bricks and mortar rather than investment in the squad to bring trophies would convince him.

Is he not likely just honouring it in order to attain free agent status? I don't blame him and he's fully entitled to but it's hard to read it as some kind of grand gesture.

Depends whether you want your success over decades rather than two or three seasons.

Generally speaking, it is a bit weird to see criticism against Levy not selling our best players in their peak - bit of 180 from the usual narrative.

Well I was talking from the point of view of Eriksen ( and any other player for that matter). And I can tell you for sure that it will be the latter.

Probably best this is taken elsewhere before A&C shits all over us again.

I hear CE told club 4 years ago, and I shared that privately then, that he would not be signing another contract. Once we held unto him end of 2017/2018 season, he was always going to run down his contract, unless 2 Spanish giants came calling. From what I have deciphered, he will see out his contract, and go on a free.

yet, weirdly enough he had indicated in the summer he ‘may’ sign a new contract, as all was agreed, but with heavy clauses. We know the rest.

Badly managed by the club to now be in this position. Lot of loan inquiries, haven’t heard anything concrete about outgoing sales. Will save the rest for now.
I said ages ago if he said he absolutely won't sign a new long term contract then we have to get rid immediately or offer something else like a below market buy-out. The latter of course potentially setting a precedent that others might attempt to hold out for. We didn't do that and he's now played us like a flute and has no incentive to help us get even £20m out of him this month

Scraping around for loans. How depressing.

I'd personally just give Eriksen away on a free.
I’d put him with the kids / reserves. Stop him taking up a space for someone who wants to be here, let him get unfit and crapper and teach him and anyone else a lesson. Be a different story if he was playing well but sod him - he’s going on a free anyway.

Thanks Herc, but the players have all the power these days so I can’t see what else we could have done. Except for simply not picking him for footballing reasons for the past year. I don’t care if he can still pop an annual free kick into the top corner, players like GLC should have been given the shirt over him. Good player but no legend.

12 months ago, Barcelona were looking for mids on loan, we won't be the first club with top 4 aspersions looking for players to come in on loan, and we certainly won't be the last. This isn't the big deal everyone is making it out to be.

Barcelona don’t have a chairman who believes English clubs need to stop spending money and follow the European model of not spending much!
