What also world well for Munich is intelligent running from their fullbacks in Alaba and (best in class) Lahm in creating overlaps and makes it apparent why we'd want to upgrade at this position - particularly I'd actually say Benny who IMO is terrible in the opposition third.

I've liked Ekotto over the years, but he does have an aversion to getting forward. Rarely does he ever provide the man in front with support and just likes to cross from deep instead. Still unsure about Rose's defensive ability but he would certainly provide a much greater attacking threat.

See I'm far from Walker's biggest fan but he's a bloody willing runner, albeit usually into the oncoming path of the fullback but nevertheless, if something positive was going to happen from one of Benny or Walker going forward then it's Walker everyday.

OK, haven't been back home for long, only got as far as page 9 so far on my catch-up but there seem to be lots of twisted knickers over this McManaman ITK. Is it not worth taking into account that it only says "We're interested"? NOT, "we've bid for", NOT "we are in talks to sign", JUST "we're interested"... Doesn't really mean anything right now. I'm sure we're "interested" in many many players, just wait to see what unfolds before getting uber worked up about it?

If the talk of Ince to Palace for just £4 million is true, then I think we should be making an offer.
It's pennies compared to what Liverpool spent on largely unproven English players.....

In all fairness that's a really good move for him. They need a replacement for Zaha and he'd fit the bill. He'll get to work with his old manager who knows how to use him. And, he'll get to step up a level and get some Premiership experience without having to join a bigger team where he could potentially spend a fair bit of time on the bench.

If we were interested in getting him, a half season loan to Palace with an option to extend would be smart. That way if he does really well and looks the business we can bring him back in.

Yep I agree with that...............we were also interested in Dzeko, Aguero, Higuain, Lewandowski, Hazard, Osca, Isco, Phil Jones, Asharvin, Gervinho, Carzola, Son..................................well let's just end this with Blue & Yellow!!

The thing you've got to love about McMananman is how in the biggest game of his nascent career, he absolutely smashed it, and tore an experienced pro in Clichy a new one. Doesn't mean he is going to be a top player, I've seen Etherington and Jarvis give good fulbacks twisted blood on their day, but it does mean he's got something about him

No thanks on Mcmanaman, think Wigan will try to ask for a stupid price and he's too raw for me. Not saying he might not turn out a good player in the end. Don't see him as much of an upgrade on Andros tbh. Not very pleasing to hear this given it would suggest Bernard might not be on.

Got to agree with that and, as somebody said earlier in the responses, perhaps if he was 17/18 years of age, fair enough but he's 22 now & 'raw' = something just doesn't quite sit right?

McMananamannan comes in and is coached into being better than the sum of parts.

That's why we have a "head coach", and it's because; Levy will want to sell players for profit.

He's tricky. he's English. He could be better: QUIDS IN ALL ROUND (y)

IMO no point signing a player of McManaman's level when we have Townsend, Falque, Ceballos and Pritchard. if we sign a winger we need one good enough to relegate Lennon to the bench

Mcmansman wound be great back up and cover to Lennon.

Townsend will play off the left you would have presumed. I'd Esther have too many players and quick pacey options. When Lennon was injured we really struggled having holtby wide and sigurdson

We need an upgrade on Lennon, not back up.
