THIS, we’ve had the whole month to ‘try’ & solve our #1 crisis ...

So have others clubs like Man U, Chelsea and Barca, but not signed a forward yet!

The issue we have is we need a striker now to play, but will be happy to then be on the bench going forward if we sign him, or a loan deal with no option to buy.

We’ve also signed Sessegnon, Clarke, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Gedson and Bergwijn in the last 6 months, demonstrating serious investment in the squad for both the immediate and longer term, which sort of takes the edge off a bit.

If we have to sign a bit of a “veteran” as a stop-gap in a position we’re in dire need of, but won’t be when Kane is back - what’s the problem, really?
That’s a fair argument. And it’s opened my (ego) opinion somewhat ??

I like the plural.

He also says: “selling clubs want crazy money for back up strikers - I mean crazy money.“

So I can understand why we are struggling. Don’t want to pay out big bucks for players that might not be that good. Guess that’s what happens when you try and wing it in the last days of the window.

I'm with you that it is disappointing that this hasn't been sorted out given it is such a high priority. Though,I suspect the wording "winging it" is a bit strong and would suggest that "gambling on getting a good deal when so many names are thrown at you" may be more accurate. We all know that when the stakes and monies involved are so high, business decisions like this have contingency plans. Here is player A and i'd pay this for him. Here is player B and i'd pay that for him and so on. What appears to have happened is that the forecast incorrectly predicted the market price for a striker. And if so, the plan was doomed from the start but the fault lay with faulty planning, not a lack of planning. Let's cross our fingers and hope that there is something in the pipeline.

I’d take Giroud ??‍♂️he’s fucking immense in the air and usually pops up with a goal.

whilst he may not run as much, we’ll have someone to target at least ?

funny really, get to the last day and it’s a Arsenal/Chelsea cast off we are talking about starting as CF - we were in the CL final not so long ago ?

I’m all for trying as JJ says, but remember the years we tried for players who were not good enough, just to get “someone”. Rasiak? Best to not sign anyone and give the signings we have made & youth a chance.

Better to work trying but then making do with that we have. This is a rebuild as the previous squad had peaked. We need to be patient.

I’m not overly fussed about the striker to be honest. Don’t want to get into formation chat at all but the Bergwijn signing gives us more flexibility with our attacking options. Better for the club to go without than to fall into the panic signing trap IMO.

dragon1: this was player i refered to earlier today (balotelli) jose had him at inter and thinks he is crackers though but club are open and brescia are skint

we have 4 options now, giroud, balotelli , lloriente and one orther who looks united bound now

honestly it probably depends what mood jose wakes up in tomorrow and whether he wants any of them on loan

none of the top tier strikers are available this window and jose does not want players for sake of it

he also says @Hercules info is good

Just saying we need to be aiming higher than balotelli and giroud neither are good enough for us in my opinion and we shouldn’t just be looking for a stop gap until kane is back. We need someone so when kane is fit we can rest him and not keep running him into the ground. I wouldn’t be looking at past it veterans
