he plays for twente tho right? kuyt, kezman, alfonso alves........all scored lots of goals. Really doesn't mean a lot when they get to a higher league. Im not saying hes poor just seems like not much of an upgrade... i actually prefer lennon from what ive seen.
and be satisied with 4 goals & 5 assists a season with Lennon ?

Dont know about Chadli, but we need a big improvement on Lennon

while he doesnt bag goals...our record when Lennon doesnt play is pretty atrocious. His work not only on the ball running at the opposition and setting up others off the counter is just as important as his defensive work rate.

He's was heavily praised by AVB last season, and he seemed to really play well throughout the season. I understand that he needs to add a few more goals but with our attack, we've got enough goals in it without needing every single player going forward to bag 10+ goals a season.

You're wrong, if we want to mix it with the big boys, we need all the attackers weighing in with goals. Lennon, doesn't produce enough output.

Our record when Lennon doesn't play is attrocious, because we didnt have another right winger - the very reason why we lost out in final months of 2011/12 when Harry played VDV in RW.

I don't question his commitment or team work, especially helping out Walker. He gives a different dimension to us with his speed.

But fact is he nees to improve his game. He doesnt shoot enough or take pens or take corners or freekicks. He has improved in his general game play but sill is a flash in the pan. With Paulinho coming in, I see us playing 4-3-3. So, his defending responsibilities reduces. But I really can't see him improvin in attacking front. Toiwnsend - looks good but tbh hasnt produced in attacking third.

We deperately need a wing forward. I was hoping Villa would be the man but that went pear shaped. Bernard or Lamela would be prfect but I wouldnt be against Chadli.

We shouldnt sell him obviously - but I really want someone better than him starting.

At the very least some decent competition. The reason we've got a much worse record when Lennon doesn't play is because we've had to shoehorn someone into the position and it's put us way off balance. Lennon is a decent wide man, he can cause defences problems but I think he'll likely become a valuable 'option' if we are able to bring in a player better suited to a 433. He'll be a great player to bring off the bench when legs are tired and for sure he'll get his share of starts too.

The even bigger problem for Lennon is that Bale isn't going to be playing on the left much I'd imagine and Lennon isn't much of an inverted winger (he has scored some nice goals from the left but don't think he can play there full time).

Lennon could theoretically work on the right in a 433, but all signs point to that being Bale's position.

In 2011-12 we had Lennon for the entire first half of the season until he got injured and missed almost all of the second half. I compared our results for what was an almost the same number of games and the two sets were virtually identical. We gained the same number of points in those games that he played in as those when he didn't.

In that season, at least, whether or not Lennon played made virtually no difference.

The world hopes you mean Bernard cos if you mean Leandro, there will be much shaking of heads and wringing of hands.

Lennon and Bale are the two most creative wingers in the league

Lennon- 21 apps, 3 goals, 11 shots, 5 assists, 43 chances created, 62 dribbles
Bale- 17 apps, 9 goals, 58 shots, 1 assists, 42 chances created, 78 dribbles

I know it's random, but I'd rather we went for Douglas Costa (the little Brazilian from Shakhtar). His monetary value dropped by a couple of million in the last 6 months (mainly because of the influx of all the Brazilians @ that club, he didn't get many opportunities to play). The kid is absolute class, and imho his price tag wouldn't be that much higher than Chadli's. Just saying.

When we had Lennon, we had balance in the XI. when Lennon was injured, we had no balalnce - Harry couldnt change the team tactically. He played VDV in right wing - exposed Walker every time. That period failure is mainly attibuted to how Harry couldnt respond tactilaly, but the problem was we did not have another player to compete/replace Lennon. When Lennon played, he was not good either in most games.

11 shots on goal is appalling stat for a winger

I agree the blokes class but would be amazed if he would command a fee below £15mil.
